ANOTHER flat
 

So I threw on a knobbie because it was so nice I HAD to ride...didn't even get 5 miles in and had a nail shred my rear wheel, the knobbie....good lord, I give up. I'm waiting til my new tires get here.

Holy Schnikeees! I know that you are carrying more weight but geesh. How did a nail "shred" your tire? Do you stop when it starts to flatten? I haven't had a single flat in the last 2000 + miles and i ride mainly on unpaved roads. (i know i will have one tomorrow now.) I do run Slime and wouldn't have it any other way. I prefer riding to sitting on the road working on a stinking tire.

Spinskins will help with the small stuff. They are the lightest toughest tire liner. They are kevlar and much lighter than the hard rubber types.
You can still get a flat, but this is about the best protection out there. I have been using spinskins in thin Maxxis semi slicks and have not had a flat in years.

I probably have less trash on the ground where I ride? Maybe it will help anyway?

It was noisy where I was, and since I was riding a 2" knobby I didn't notice the flat tire til it was basically flat. By then it had atlesat a good 10 or so rotation...the nail was all bent and intertwined in my tire, I had to use pliers tio pull it out.

That's it, I'm going back to those solid plastic tires you have to heat in hot water to make them expand enough to fit over the rim. That will solve the flat problem once and for all :)

There was a kid in my neighborhood riding a bmx bike all day with no tires. He didn't get any flats.

If you use spinskins you had better catch any glass in your tire otherwise the glass will penetrate in time.
