Rear Wheel Assembly
Hello,
Recently stolen right out of the building, the rear wheel for my Hybrid Treks FX 7.3. I usually lock both wheels, and I guess it takes one time for it to disappear! I was thinking about upgrading from 32 to 36 spoke, since I have a rear rack, and usually overloaded, and had spokes snap on me a couple of times. Any suggestions on how I can replace it on a budget? I was looking at bicycle wheel warehouse but not sure which rim, cassette (8 speed), tube and tire to pick up. Its been a while since I worked on bikes, but I have to do this because I don't have the money and need the bike to commute! Rear Wheel / 700c / Rim Brake / Presta Valve / Tubular... etc. Thanks so much for any suggestions. |
Moved from Adaptive Cycling- General Cycling won the coin toss between it, Hybrids, and Mechanics.

Used rear wheels are a lot harder to find than fronts. Your cheapest solution might be to find an incomplete donor bike that still has a usable rear wheel.
Replacement wheels are available at any bike shop. They come priced from about $50.00 to however much money you have. A relatively cheap wheel can be significantly improved by giving it a retension and retrue job. |
Any suggestions on how I can replace it on a budget? Bike Shop. Trek bike? trek shop will get the same wheel , milage on the chain wont go with new parts,, have it replaced.. Ask about security Skewers... |
Craigslist has cheap wheels all the time in Austin.
Maybe you can even buy your wheel back! |
