!988 Cannondale SR500 vs 2012 Specialized Allez Elite

This is my first post in this forum and I'm a complete novice. I'm trying to choose between the SR500 for $300 and the Allez for $350. Both in excellent condition. I'm leaning very strongly in favour of the Allez because of the bargain price and Ultegra RD. I feel silly saying it but the Cannondale is aesthetically in a different league compared to the Allez. I especially don't like the compact frame of the Allez. I also think $300 is a bit steep for the SR500. What do you guys think?

Buy them both. You should be able to turn a profit on the Allez assuming it's in decent condition and not some odd size. And I agree that $300 is a lot for that old Cannondale.

I'm in college so my budget won't allow me to get both at the same time. I've seen Allez's go for $600ish so I should probably pick it up for $350. If I turn a profit maybe I can buy and sell my way to a high end bike.

I have a 2005 Allez Sport and it's the most fun bike I've ever ridden (tho I do love my 2011 Roubaix). $350 is a great price for the Elite. Ride it, you'll like it. It's a non-nonsense bike. Then maybe buy them both, sell the Cannondale. Don't pass this up.
