Name for a cycling group
I will be leading a co-ed cycling group/club for my church this year and need to come up with a creative name for the group. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that they would like to share. If you have any ideas or have seen something that you would be willing to share, I would greatly appreciate it.
Some catchy and/or creative would be great. Thanks for helping me out. Matt Riding is good - Home |
What are the main goals of the group? Training for an event? Fellowship? General fitness?
|
Why Not Poll the people going on the ride next time ?
|
Purpose of the group
The purpose of the group is more fellowship and general fitness. Obviously, everyone likes to bike but they are all over the map as to type of cycling and fitness. Matt

Good idea. The group is new for this year but can't hurt to ask. Thanks!

I'd go straight-up gangster, like, The Ghisallo Cartel. Very intimidating.
I also like Pitt Pius the Pedaler, for the alliteration. Club Hey Wait For Thee! if you're a bunch of comedians. Veloclub Trois Riviéres, if you're a bunch of Euro snobs. Squirrel Hill Scramblers could be a down-homey homage to the terrain, or maybe Mt. Washington Mashers. Lastly, with respect to the history of the city, Ironburgh Cycling Club. |
Hell's Angels. :p

When I was in college we had a cycling club called the "Hell's Babuskas". I thought that was a funny name until I talked with a fellow with an eastern European background who told me that "babuska" was a term often used to mean "grandmother". After that I thought it was a real funny name.

I'm familiar with the word babushka, with the 'h', but what did your club think Hell's babuskas, meant?

I'm a member of B.A.B.E.S. (AKA Belleville Area Bicycling and Eating Society).
If your church group happens to be Baptist, you might be able to come up with something similar. |
бабушка (babushka) is Russian for grandmother. By extension, it's also come to mean the scarf worn on the heads of grandmotherly women.

No matter what bike Jesus rides he still could pedal it on water. Other cool note is that even on a very large group ride with Jesus you'd only need to bring a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish for lunch. |
Cruxifixies?
pedaling past purgatory.. Calvary Cavalry? Mormon Masers? |
