Champs of Craigslist. Post your finds here...

Ok...here is a deal. I tried to find some project bikes on Craigslist... Crazy prices aside, many craigslist posters have absolutely no idea how to post to sell. The amount of carelessness is overpowering. Sometimes it's the picture itself, sometimes it's a description... Unbelievable
What happened to that old Craigslist? It started looking more and more like a high end dumpster.

Post your finds if you care. Here are few examples of funny, terrible and strange lol

IMHO, the ignorance of a large portion of Craigslist sellers actually means opportunity for the knowledgeable and savvy buyer. In a sense, it's like ebay used to be before most of the amateurs got crowded out by professional full-time sellers.

Personally, I've bought 4 bikes on Craigslist: 2 Mountain bikes, for $40 and $30 respectively. Both of these bikes required minor work (like adjusting gearing and replacing tubes) to make them fully functional, but I believe that once this work was done, the two bikes are actually worth about $150 and $70-80 respectively.

I also bought a Cannondale frame and a bunch of parts for $100 which is a project, from a knowledgeable seller who lacked the time to follow through on his own project to build it.

And finally, I bought a $450 Trek Y-foil from a seller who simply had stopped using it. - this bike was, IMHO, priced about $200-250 below market when listed.

Nice return on the investment... Typical way Craigslist works...That's why it's hard to find a good deal anymore.

$89.99 at the store, MSRP $94.99, $135 at Craigslist... Go figure...

I got my 2000 LeMond Zurich with two spare nib chains, two extra wheels, a new tire and a few small parts for $80.00.
