Cleveland Velodrome

Anyone familiar with the track or the folks out there? I'm pretty new to the area and built a new track bike to take out there. Also anyone that's looking to link up, it would be great to find a riding group.

While I have never ridden there, I have friends that have. The web-page lists May 1, as the start date.
I would like to get some of the speedskating kids to the velodrome classes. But most of them have sport's scheduling conflicts.

From what i understand they're very heavily involved with youth riding, and i'm sure it would be a blast for any kid to be on a track like that!

Also maybe give a call to Spin Bike in Lakewood Ohio and see if Brian is working. He can give you the lowdown and some contact names.

I live just less then 10 minutes away from there actually and just started getting more into track riding just last year. Definitely a great place! Highly recommend it from my experience and their track 101 is free for first timers. Also like the other poster said, they are involved heavy in youth classes but over the summer months, they have their regular races and time trails are my favorite. But yeah, definitely give it a shot if you are more interested in going there since they are open now but thats always weather permitting currently. Oh, and one last thing... if you are really up to the endurance, there is a 1,000 lap challenge this Sunday on the 7th May. But yeah. I know im late but never better then never here since they are starting to open and I hope this answers some of your questions about the place. If you have any more, just send me a quick PM and Ill get back to ya TC.

Now that it's May and time to go track cycling, the wonderful April weather has disappeared. It looks like at least 10 days day in a row with temperatures in the low fifties and rain most days.
I'm about 15 freeway minutes away, near Lakewood Park.

Looks like perfect weather if it stays dry (I hate doing that on a hot day). 100 miles in tiny circles should take what - 4-5 hours?

You can do as many as you want on that day actually.

A couple of weeks ago, some N. Ohio roller skaters (inlines & quads) skated a marathon or 1/2 marathon at a small roller rink. I don't think the rink's track has ever been accurately measured so it was best guess distance. Somewhere between 420 and 500 laps.

How long will it take the track to dry?
It could rain until 1AM Sunday. But all day Sunday it will be sunny and cold (below 50).

Id say roughly a few short hours. The whole event starts at 1pm anyways and im pretty sure by then it will be dry since it looks like they haven't cancelled it yet. But anyways, I know... I seriously wish it was a better day tomorrow to be honest with you but at least the rain would finally die down, heh.. but im still looking forward to doing it although its something you'd have to also dress warm for when your doing that many laps since it is going to be chilly.
