Century loops from Madison WI

I'm hoping to do my first solo century next summer. I did a metric century this year and it went quite well.

So I'm interested in recommendations for routes that I could take from my home in Madison. I'm not afraid of hills, but am not looking for something that's gratuitously hilly -- yet. A ride that's fairly representative of the surrounding region would be just fine.

Take a look at RideWithGPS and set up the 'find' filters to ID rides starting in Madison and 90-150 miles in length..looks like there's quite a few. The Ironman seems to have a route they repeat..must be ok.

Also look at the WDOT site on bile roads by county (in asscoiation with Wi Bike Fed..I thnk). The maps indicate car volume on roads by color.

Check out the Bombay Bicycle Club's route list on Ride with GPS. They're based in Madison, so their routes start in/near Madison, and would give you a good start toward putting together your own route.

If you decide you like hills, come west a bit to the Driftless. We've got hills.
