Ferndale MI Mobility Plan

Do you ride through Ferndale? Give them some input!!

The City of Ferndale has released draft recommendations for their Ferndale Moves mobility plan update. They are seeking feedback on those draft recommendations using this interactive webmap before January 9th.

I don't think much of the 8 Mile path. The Woodward protected lane ... hmm.... OK.

Done right,

the Woodward improvements would provide some traffic calming and if the M1 light rail ever comes up, the corridor could be a real hotspot for alternative transit.

For Eight Mile - agreed this is tougher to see what can work out here. I am more familiar with the Eight Mile traffic to the west of the Lodge. Given the extremely limited sidewalks and poor condition of much of that infrastructure, and frequency of driveways "shared use path improvement" really needs to be an expansion into the right-hand lane of westbound Eight Mile. Realistically I don't think this would markedly increase normal travel times on Eight Mile, but I am not a traffic engineer.

I am curious to see these developments though, as I live further west in Oakland County and my city is starting to develop a plan for pedestrian and multi-use trails.
