Lake Superior
I am a long-distance bike rider living in St Paul, MN- born in Milwaukee though. I am working on a volunteer basis with a Canadian non-profit- the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail Association that is trying to develop a paved shoulder along the north shore of Lake Superior! The organization has asked me to write a short article about cycling the US part Lake Superior to promote the project. The trouble is that I have cycled only bits around Duluth, MN and Ashland, WI. I am wondering if you know of anyone who has cycled the US route or the whole lake? I would like to interview them for the article. There would be a small remuneration. Please respond with an email or PM me.

I've never done it, but the route does exist.. using local, county and state highways.

I rode along Lake Superior in Wisconsin and the UP as part of a cross country tour. I crossed over into Canada at Sault ste Marie. It wasn’t difficult to map out the ride. It’s beautiful along the lake. Plus being near the lake helps keep the bugs down.

You might check with Jan Heine at Rene Herse. While he likely hasn't ridden around Lake Superior personally, he's pretty tied into customers who have done that sort of thing.

Thanks for the tip. I will follow-up.
It is certainly an accomplishment to cycle completely around this lake given the current road conditions on both sides of the border.

Would love any updates on this. Have done the Gitchi gami trail and been to Ashland many times. Also rode in the UP. Looking to doing a ride around the lake maybe in 2 years, ( next year I will try the GDMBT )
