Macomb Township board agrees to shared use path
During a regular meeting on Jan. 25, the Macomb Township Board of Trustees approved execution of a cost sharing agreement for construction costs with the Macomb County Department of Roads for a shared use path, which will be from 25 Mile Road into Macomb Township Center.
Cost to the township for the work is estimated at $92,589. In a memo to the board dated Jan. 19, Land Development Director James Van Tiflin wrote the Macomb County Department of Roads (MCDR) and the township have been working jointly to construct the shared use pathway. It will stretch from 25 Mile Road at Macomb Corners Park along the south side of 25 Mile Road, through the township’s property west of Broughton Road, connecting it to the town center complex. Van Tiflin wrote this is the same project that the MCDR and the township have applied for TAP grant funds to complete.
He added the MCDR provided a cost sharing agreement to be executed by the township and MCDR for the project. The township and county split of the local match for the project is 50 percent township, 50 percent county.
