TOMRV rip

Tour of the Mississippi River Valley is no more.
Started about 45 years ago, loosely based on Tosrv.

No explanation on the organizing club's website. Like it never happened.
Used to draw over 1000 riders from all over the midwest.

Our beloved TOSRV is struggling too. I remember in the 80's probably 7000 riders. Last year, a few hundred.

.

The original TOSRV was before the days of GPS and the idea of just following the Scioto River all the way along that busy state route from Columbus to Portsmouth is a manly, if boring proposition these days. Maybe Columbus Outdoor Pursuits can come out with TOSRV "2.1" with more interesting back road and taking the riders away from the boredom and danger.

The last I heard, TOSRV had at least changed the weekend they held it. The original weekend was well known for bad weather, especially wind and rain. That pretty much describes early spring.
