Bad Ride

I went on a short ride today on the Oak Leaf Trail in Milwaukee county, (southeast side). On the way to the trail I got run off the road by a car that turned into me, but that didnt stop me. I just kept on my ride got to the trail and some people were walking with their dog, no big deal til I noticed no leash on the dog, yup, it came after me the owner yelling at it to stop but that did no good . The dog didn't catch me, but my heart rate has never been that high. At this point I figured it couldn't get any worse but I was wrong again. About a quarter mile down the trail some people walking three to be exact, I yelled coming up behind you on your left but they forgot what their left was, and I locked up my brakes again. Over all it was a fast ride.

I think this is why I've found that it's just not safe for me to ride trails. The pace that I like to keep causes problems with others and as the day goes on it just becomes too populated.

However, I have to use a trail in northwest IL (Millenium to North Shore trail) in order to do my commute. Luckily, no one uses the trail at 6am or 6pm.

Good to see you survived.

Overall, if you're looking to keep a good pace up, stay away from the path. If you're recovering from a century the day before, the path is excellent.

I ride loops up and down Lake Drive between Grant and South Shore parks. Stops are minimal and you can just open 'er up for hours at a time.
