Their time is less than what I recorded as well. Yay.
:D |
their time jives with my garmin numbers more or less. 8:32 total time.
the placing numbers represent how many riders finished in front of you and your finish time with ties. so mine are 200 / 77. i was the 200 rider to close the line and my time was 77th best with ties. later. |
No, what I meant was they messed up the placings. Normally with placings when you have 2 or more tied for a position you then skip the next positions. Example:
1st 2nd 2nd 4th 5th 5th 5th 8th etc... Really not important, but gave me a shock when I saw it first. EDIT: Found where they did it right in 2004.... http://www.bloomingtonbicycleclub.or.../2004_time.xls |
They have modified the listing already.
Interesting for me to note was that I finished last year at 69.5% of the way through the field, and this year was 32.9% of the way through the field. That's nice to know because I consider that an improvement (apples to apples type). Everyone battles or benefits from the weather. Finishing position compensates and allows you to get a better view IMHO. Puts it into persepctive...more numbers: 2005: 74.9% 2006: 69.5% 2007: 32.9% Interesting considering that in 2005 I rode it about an hour faster than in 2006, and yet I finished higher up due to the extreme heat of that year. Listen it's either I play around with these numbers right now or I go back to work and play around with other numbers....;) |
9:59 Yey, I beat 10 hours. Top half of all the finishers at 476...not bad for a fat old dude who was catchin smokes during his breaks. ;)

44 for me. Not too bad. I am really happy with my ride considering I bought my bike on May 1st and hadn't really done any athletic activity since October.
Would upload some pics but they are WAYYY to big so that will have to happen at another time. |
RAIN marked the beginning of my vacation, so I haven't had internet connectivity since then. (Hiking and mountain biking in the mountains of Virginia. :D) It was great to see those of you that I did. I had a great time and beat my expectations by quite a margin. (8:32, placed 201 :))
Quick (if late) ride report: The first 40 miles we were in a huge group of riders which was a lot of fun. Speeds were very high (fun) and the shuffling of positions within the pack took a little getting used to (also fun). I don't think I have ever been in a group of more than 20 riders so it was a bit of learning curve. It was amazing how that huge group splintered after the first stop. (Or maybe they stayed together and didn't stop.) All the way up to lunch I was feelling really good. The weather was perfect and riding on such a long straight road really allowed me to get in a comfortable rythym. After lunch is when the problems began. I have the liquid intake down but I definitely have to work on what I eat during the ride though. The last third of the ride my calves kept cramping up and this really slowed me down. Considering this was the third century (or longer) ride in life I'm going to chalk it up to lack of understanding. Thanks to Aham for pulling me the last stretch! :o Big thumbs up to SmokinMiles! |

I think you're right...I saw him a couple times through the day....he was kinda hard to miss with the hi vis jersey and bike!
I was much further up towards the start line...but on the same side....no really good landmarks around me, though....except for a bunch of people in cycling jerseys and helmets!! The Blue Shamu was certainly a one of a kind on the road that day...I did see a white 2007 Orca riding in the Peloton....or did that make us a "Pod" with two Orcas out there?? I have yet to see another blue 2007 Orca...so, don't everybody rush out and buy one...I want to stay original as long as I can! |
It has me as 7th female but I'm really wondering if the "gal" ahead of me named "Steve" might possibly be a guy???!!!! :D
I am at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park in Nederland, CO. Finally came into Boulder to get some internet access. I love it here so much. I'm getting in some good practice for DLD and based on how it's going I forecast much pain for me! Crystal |
Just saw I was in 82nd position...wow....I'm shocked.
|
Thanks for that Saturn Photography link. I didn't know they took that many pictures. Here I am at the finish: http://www.saturn-5.com/buy_it.cgi?p...s/DSC_5743.jpg
I went back and looked at last year's photos. You can tell from my face that last year was rougher. Here's a good picture of my GF trying to make me feel better. I'm tempted to buy that one. |
