I figured. At least my porch roof won't leak anymore.

I remember freezing at that race last year.

Good race today...could have been better result wise, but super fun. Perfect gearing for me today on the SS. Started off great and was picking people off steadily on the 1st lap and a quarter lap into the 2nd my chain bounced off on a bumpy section after leaving one of the paved sections. Doh! Chain wrapped around the BB and kinked a bit. Took a bit to get it back on and now I was DFL. Took the next three laps to chip away 14 riders to ride in for 40th. It hurt. I suffered mentally and physically. Wanted to quit each lap and wanted to puke at the end. A great day indeed!

Best feature of the course was the corkscrew before the 1st set of quadruple barriers. So much fun!

well, that wasn't what I expected. The northbrook course was great. Yeah, no hill, which is very lame. But they managed to find room to have a double turn switchback, with enough camber to make most people ride sideways, and enough soul sapping soft field to keep things interesting.

I had fun.

Did you ride a white IRO fixie? The jumps into the sand pit were quite a show from the guy riding that bike.

Nope - I raced in Milwaukee's Estabrook Park race - think I'm crazy enough riding SS and high doubt I'd be able to finish with a fixie...well maybe, but it'd be real painful!

The corkscrew/reverse corkscrew plus four barriers at the Estabrook Park race was hilariously fun. I don't think I've ever been dizzy on a bike before.

HAHAHA. I'm use to that when it comes to biking.

That course at Kletzsch is fantastic. Loved the fans at the top of the run up, that's CX baby!

I'll have some vid up in the next few days... I think

I read a recon report that they didn't have the usual run up.

Bad recon?

It was quite the hill! A decent course I thought. I liked Estabrook better. Maybe because I didn't have the best gearing. Went with a 20 in the back instead of the 18. Absolutely great for the hill sections, but lost a lot of ground on the flats and the long downhills. Ah well. Finished somewhere mid-pack with a big knot on my shin from the first set of barriers. It got all bottlenecked on the start and guy in front of me hit the barrier who I then hit as I was mid hurdle. Oi! Ah well war wound I guess.

I'm asking for gears for Christmas :-)

I had a F'N BLAST this weekend. Best. Cross. Race. Ever!

I totally sucked, but it was a great course and I had such a great time! Kudos to Mayo.

1st cross race I have ever been to and it was awesome! I called my wife and said "I need to figure out a way to get a cross bike!" Scummer, I wish I would have known you were there, I would have said hi!

Aw, and i'm the favored crosser. :-)

The course at the hilton was great. I didn't imagine a golf course would be quite so hard to pedal over. The rough, really was. I decided to not try riding the sand pits, I took a run before the race and failed miserably.

I'm getting faster. Measurably. I also think flannel mike is getting faster. *shakes fist*

It was my first cross race and I had a blast!! I've been recovering from an injury since Sept and had 3 rides during that time prior to my race. It showed but still had a blast. It was a great venue. And thanks to the spectators that moved the course tape so there was no somewhat-hard inside corner into the mud pit turn. I never realized until Sat the benefit that a mud pack could have on your complexion. Especially the inside of your ear.

Yeah, I see USA Cycling picked it up. I was pretty shocked by that.

Which cat did you race on Sat?

Well, we were in the same race.

You weren't te guy I saw pushing his bike along on two knees at the first barrier were you? LOL. I think he was in all black. (I suspect that is the guy that went down in front of you)

Needless to say we were in the same general vicinity at the same time.

Racing state this weekend?
