bike fit in NW chicago or burbs
 

Anyone have recommendations for a fitter? Driving to the city might be possible, but suburbs is preferable (I'm in palatine). I have a cyclocross bike which gets a mix of pavement and gravel for now. I'd like to get a new seat, so if any shop has one of those butt-meters, that'd be nice.

Barrett is right, Get A Grip by far destroys everyone, however I know that the following (Trek dealers) also do good fits:
- Village Cycle Sport (Elk Grove? Over by Busse Woods)
- Prairie Path Cycle (Winfield, by Wheaton)
- Two Seasons (Hanover Park on Irving, best prices in the area on everything!)

Get A Grip is a serious, hard core place, yet they are super cool. I used to work across the street from them (Des Plaines and Fulton).

I am looking for a fitter also. I had a bike rep recommend a fitter at Alberto's in Highland Park. I haven't been fitted by this guy. So I can't tell you how good or bad he is.

I have to also recommend Get A Grip. I just had a new Cervelo fitted there and they are simply great. Adam is who I would recommend if you can get on his calendar. I was having trouble finding a good seat and they let me swap saddles four times so I could ride 100+ miles on each attempt. We finally got it right.

Seriously, check them out, being fitted properly and feeling great on your bike is the most important thing you can do. I'm sure those other shops are good but Get a Grip is incredibly thorough and certified in many of the the important fit schemes. At least check their site to read about how they go about it and the equipment they use. It's worth the drive.

get-a-grip should go a great job consider the price of the fit. if you purchase a bike from them its included, but bring in your own ride and its upwards of $300. still worth considering if you have the cash. later.

thanks everyone. The get-a-grip website says $325 for your own bike ($125 if you buy a bike/frameset). Any difference in locations? irving park would be a bit easier to get to.

For those that have done their fitment, do they allow for adjustment in crank arm length? I'd like to try a 160mm or 165mm crank.

They no longer offer fitting on Irving Park. Bring your bike, bike shoes and bike clothing.

I had my fitting done in September. Then I delivered a bike-in-a-basket, they built my Soma from my choice of parts. The bike is 100% perfect.

Yes, the fitting bike has adjustable cranks. The whole fitting is computer analyzed. The $200 bike discount w/ fitting is good for a year, but be sure to ask. You also get lifetime refits. They treat people fairly... and I have yet to buy a bike from them. Someday, I will.

VisonQuest Coaching also does fits. If you're going to spend around $300, I'd consider getting a Retul fit.
