bike rentals - cleveland airport

Are there any places to rent a bicycle near Cleveland? I was wondering about flying to there and renting a 62cm touring frame for a weekend adventure.

thanks
bill

Fridrich's on Cleveland's west side rents bikes. Just take an RTA Rapid from the Airport up to Public Square and then a Westbound #22 RTA bus over to Lorain Ave.

Fridrich's is a neat old place. In the back they have products that I haven't seen in decades.

Looks like Fridich's mostly rents hybrid/mountain bikes - not tourers.

You could also check out the Ohio City Bike Co-op (OCBC) - they're a non-profit, and have a sorta-random bunch of bikes for rental, but the price is pretty good if they have something that'll work for you:
Ohio City Bike Rentals

I have a feeling that they (Jim) would point you in the right direction even if they don't have a bike for you.

I'd recommend e-mailing OCBC (Info@OhioCityCycles.org) and then following up with a phone call (216.830.2667) Mondays 12pm-9pm or Wednesdays 5pm-9pm. Those are times when they're open, but not for retail, when things get a bit crazy.

You could rent one of these at Edgewater Park.

Lot's of NASA workers ride their bike's on lunch-hour in the MetroPark behind NASA and the airport.
Now the trick is to find a correct sized employee to loan you a bike.

Towpath trail option

Yea Fridrich! Great old bike shop and a good place to start either an urban tour or to bike to the trailhead of the old canal towpath. The Ohio and Erie canal towpath trail starts currently at Harvard Rd. on the west side not all that far from Fridrich (maybe 3 or 4 miles). The trail runs through the industrial areas of Cleveland (what is left) and into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and goes into and past Akron. It is 35 miles or so to downtown Akron. There is an option to ride back or part way for some portion on the vintage excursion train- bikes and their riders can ride for only $2!

From the airport, taking the Rapid Transit Train. Both Spin Bikes and Fridich's are only about one mile from nearby train stops.
