4/5 crash

Anyone see the 4/5 crash at finish of lake front course? I got caught up in it & broke wrist. Didn't get a chance to talk to anyone after. WTF happened? I had eased up for the sprint cuz it looked way too sketchy. Almost, but not quite, cleared the rider on the ground in front of me. How do you crash on a straight line finish???

ColorChange: too bad - that was perfect positioning!

Don't worry the 3's have that same problem. Sorry to hear that news. Actually, I was thinking that the "Spandage Patrol" was pretty light so far. Normally by the second week, the packs look like an army platoon just coming out of battle! I've seen a few bandaged arms and legs, but nothing like in years past.

Thanks. Don't suppose you got any pics of that finish? Trying to determine if there was anything I could have done to avoid. Be especially ticked if it turned out I planted my hand in the fall. The race itself was well done by the organizers. My understanding is that delays were due to some idiots who moved the barriers and proceeded to park on the course. That and a couple of teenagers who went for a joyride, cops in pursuit (!)

Two guys almost tangled up in the 3's race in the sprint right in front of me. Luckily the kept it up but by then I sat up and cruised in mid-pack.

John Wilke 07-21-10 05:31 PM

Joyride? In a Land Rover perhaps? They blew by me at 90mph, but I got their picture! You can even see their faces.

Krishna ... so sorry man! Damn. Hope you heal up fast.

I dodged a small bullet in our masters race on Monday and it kind of took the wind out of my sails for doing the other races. That course (Whitnall) I thought was about as safe as they get and we still had problems.

It happened behind me-I finished up front just behind the sprint. I'm not sure what happened either but one of the guys who crashed was hanging around the alterra after the race and had a sling on and just looked absolutely wrecked by the crash.

The sprint was looking kind of sketchy-I was right behind the two guys who were pushing and headbutting Mark Renshaw style but it all ended up being for nothing as everyone but the 4-5 guys who were contesting the win just kind of cruised in.

Overall I thought the race was great-awesome course and great weather.

Racine: #2.3, & 5 for me. Crop those Kiwis and you've got a winner IMO.

Sun finally out in Kenosha. Rained on the 4's, but that's okay - they need the training. ;)

I was in a photographic slump yesterday but managed to pull out a few keepers in the end.

Feeling the same again today. Need to find some motivation. :o

John Wilke 07-23-10 02:59 PM

Found my mojo by finally getting my big glass focused on Aham. Well, him and the big inflatable Snoopy. Tough call which is better.

Tired. Really tired. Good thing today is an 'easy' day for me. Just a quick zip to and from Humboldt Park from home, and the Pro race is just 'highlight's only.

Whew!

Say it ain't so ... TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY??? :roflmao:
