A CCC rider was hit by a car last night.

Near the end of the Monday night Chicago Cycling Club group ride, a rider was hit by a car that made a left turn as the rider went straight through the intersection.

The rider was the next rider in front of me, but about 100 yards ahead. Several riders had gone off the front with the aid of a tail wind and slope. The rider was doing 25 mph plus as the bike hit the fender of the car. The rider continued across the hood of the car and fell in the street. He was unconscious while we waited for the ambulance. I had to leave at that point.

My prayers are with our friend.

Michael

Oh no! That is not good news. F'n inattentive drivers in their stupid cages.

Please keep us up to date when you know something new about the rider.

I got a note from one of the ride organizers that the struck rider is doing well. No mention of sustained injury.

I'm riding with the expert group tonight and might learn a little more.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

This is good to hear. I hope there is no permanent injury.

Well, the psychological trauma takes a while to go away.
