I'm in. I'll be wearing a Dairyland Dare jersey. Will you?
BTW, check out this story from Silent Sports. Mr. Krystek has never ridden the Dairyland Dare. He might of ridden the roads, but that's only a small part of the experience.

I am heading up there. I think I am only going to be doing the 100k. It is going to be warm out.

Ditto that. I'm terrible in the heat. My only defense is to slow down for the 200K or speed up to finish the 100K before it gets hot. I'm choosing the later.

Hey guys!
Is energy food provided at the stops? How about Gatorade or another sports drink?
Should I just carry what I need? I would rather keep the bike down to 2 bottles and a small bag.

in the past Stew has provided. i know he changes things a little every year so i would highly recommend going out to his site and reading through the material there. i am sure he has an answer on there.
FWIW - to those who have never done this before I do have to say without a doubt that sschilli is the absolute best organizer I have ever witnessed in this sport.

Well, when we get to the finish, we will eat well;
•Hamburgers grilled to perfection by the Mount Horeb Lion's Club. (Did you know? The hamburger is purchased from the Gaffney Farm, which is located on the HHH route!)
•All-beef hot dogs with all the fixin's
•Vegetarian Viking Ghoulash made by the Friends of Blue Mound State Park
•Three bean salad
•Lotsa Wisconsin cheese
•Fresh fruit
•Homemade cookies
•Pepsi/Diet Pepsi
•White and chocolate milk
•Beer

I will check out his article and perhaps contribute to the social media backlash you are stirring up against him

Ride reports anyone?
It was hot, sunny and there was a stiff wind out of the west.
I had a great day, though I have not been riding enough this year so the 100K had me pretty wiped by the end.
It was great to see sschili and his wife. The Evel Knievel suit was inspired! (sschili's wife wore it and cheered riders on with a bullhorn and cowbell, at the base of a couple of hard climbs) Great, fun promotion for the Dairyland Dare.

The HHH was great. The weather was clear, temps were below 80f and the wind was strong from the WNW.
I was happy with the result and look to improve in the future.

I had a good ride. I rode my Surly Long Haul Trucker and wore my cycling sandals. It made for a very comfortable day. I finished in just over 5 hours.

Here are some picks;

This is a 16% grade up Blue Mound Park Rd

This was steeper on Zwettler

These are from Lakeview

I rode it-first time
I did the ride-went great, until 20+ miles out from the finish when my right Patellar tendon started popping on me (got worse with distance). I successfully met my goal, despite the PT pain: no stopping or walking up any of the hills!
I have an i-Bike powermeter that has a built in inclinometer (two accelerometers that combine to determine instantaneous % grade)-most accurate way to measure slope (my Garmin calculates it by calculating rise over run using barometric pressure and distance-not as accurate). Inclinometer --> think digital level at the hardware store...
Anyway, Zwettler road peaked at 19.0% grade, and held over 18% before and after the spot it hit 19.0%--it was tough, but do-able. The hill on Barlow (I believe it was)-after the first rest stop was also a brute, but 'only' hit 17.3% for comparison. Both roads were nasty as they held 10-12% for a ways before maxing out their grades (think Roberts Road from the DD last year-it's a pity they're not riding 'up' Roberts on the DD this year...).
Great ride...
