Detroit to Mackinaw Route
I doubt if I can squeeze it in this year as the daylight hours are diminishing rapidly. This may have to be a 2013 ride.
Can anyone suggest roads to consider. Looking for a fairly direct route that will offer a shoulder. Is there any way through MDOT to research roads in such a way to identify if a shoulder exists.

Check out the Make a Wish foundation's "Wish a Mile" route. I've never done it, but I know they do 300 miles from somewhere "up north" to SE Michigan, this past July they ended up finishing with a lap on the MIS near Brooklyn. Maybe you'll even want to join them July 2013!
