Wisconsin Democratic candidate for governor,,,
formally worked for Trek. Seems like all you bike advocates in Wisconsin should be working hard for her to get elected. You will have a real friend in the Capitol.

She is the daughter of Trek's founder, but we really haven't heard much from her yet in the race.
She will have a tough row to hoe in the upcoming election....Wisconsin now has a budget surplus under Gov. Walker, and most folks here appreciate how much better it is to have your legislators arguing about what to do with the extra money, than to be in debt like many other states.

When people get to know Burke better, she has an excellent shot.

Not happy with Walker, but not a Walker basher either.
I dont like how he cut the Collective Bargaining Power of various groups (except groups that supported him like Firefighters and Police), without campaigning on that issue.
Also, by cutting the take-home pay of such a large group of people (mostly teachers by about 12%), there is no job growth, it is possible that trickle-up (my new word) econmics has slowed such growth.
The state is also totally divided and kind of nasty to each other, not totally blaming him for that, but he does get some major blame.
But it is nice not to have any state debt.

My next door neighboors are both teachers, so YES, they are getting a one-time tax break/refund that will amount to roughly $65.00. But their combined take home pay has been cut about 24% (according to them), a monthly cut of over $700.
They have put off buying a car, remodeling their kitchen, and taking a vacation in Northern Wisconsin and we are wondering where the jobs are in Wisconsin?
I do agree with the fiscal idea of NOT spending the tax payer surplus money, and Walker is doing well there obviously.

Yeah, all of their new taxes brought in more than they could spend (Ha!) so they're giving the excess "back" to people who didn't get hit by the new taxes in the first place. Now the Democrats can run as tax cutters even though they're just scaling back their tax increase.
