The Iron Bell trail in Michigan

Hey, thought I should share this... maybe here? It's regional.

The iron bell trail starts in Detroit and goes to Ironwood in the UP (The part that is north of Wisconsin).

Going to be a new trail that uses some existing trail and will forge new trail.

Just came across this, thought it worth an update.

I'm more familiar with the Western U.P. portions. It appears the DNR is stitching segments together from existing or planned trails

Here is the Iron Belle map. The arcgis map is sorta slow to load and the parks layer won't load so just click OK. Once the map loads you can zoom in and out. You can scroll north south east and west. You can zoom in pretty darn close.

Thanks for this link. Far more useful than the static map.

I'm more familiar with the 'non western UP" portions.

Its mostly stitching together existing trails. Michigan does have some great rail/trails that have been made over the last couple of decades.
Of course there is a lot of proposed sections (and existing sections) that just go along roadways.

Still, its nice to see all the bike trails that have been developed over time. Hopefully it continues!

The "hikiing" trail looks to me to be the long standing north country trail which extends for ~4000 miles and well outside of Michigan's borders...
