Only Custom Builders do the logical thing Front disc caliper mount on the front of the right fork Blade.
then the braking forces, torque center is the brake pad, push the wheel axle into the dropout, not out.
though some make a compromise .. the fork tip opens Forward, not down.. German Tout Terrain does this on their Trekking Bike rigid forks ..
Cash ready for $2000+ bikes to get the through axle fork , then great..

this was already happening with the advent of through axle. I expect that trend to continue as insurance companies and lawyers have their wayOriginally Posted by DorkDisk
If this hastens the end of traditional QRs and disk brakes, it could be a good thing. Disk brakes, lawyer tabs, and traditional QRs don't jive well

I believe this varies from LBS to LBS. All I had to do was bring my serial numbers in (they know which model bikes we have), added our info to a sheet they already had going, and I was given the new QRsOriginally Posted by steve_cay
BTW, dropped by the store today, and asked based on my bike being registered, could they just hand over the parts (figured I could always use some extra QR's). Nope, they would need me to bring in the bike, keep it, file the claim with Trek, wait for approval to proceed, and then install the new QR.
On a related note though, we were only given one for each of our bikes. "Only the front one is being replaced" I was told. Are others getting both front and rear replaced?!?
