Bikes: 2013 Trek 8.4 DS

Seems like Trek, Giant, and Specialize are moving towards a 2-allen screw system onto integrated mounts on the rear chainstay/dropout. Oddly many LBS's don't even know about this and try and fit generic stands.

Supposedly crosstrail supports this as well (according to the link for the part below). Check if you have two tapped screw holes at the position similar to the picture.

Looks like this on a Trek (instead of the unsightly bar between multiple tubes), very stable as well!

Specialized Bicycle Components
Bontrager Dual Sport Rear Mount Kickstand - Replacement Parts - Accessories -Trek Store
Seek / Roam XR Kickstand (Kickstands and Storage) - Bike Gear | Giant Bicycles | Canada

I don't know if the various brands are interchangeable, but from the pictures they seem to all use the same "2 screw" system.

this is my rear axle, there dont seem to be any mount points. the kickstand the store tried to fit had a stabalizing bar that you were talking about but it was too short to reach across because of how far back the stand had to be mounted due to the caliper

Correct, you don't seem to have the mount holes from the photo. Even thought the Specialized link says "2 Bolt Mount Kickstand: Crosstrail/Ariel A1 Disc models through MY15"

My wife has a Giant Rove, and although the Giant stand is specified for the Rove (and the LBS said the last one they sold had it), it is missing the mount holes as well. My Trek DS has them as advertised. May be year/frame/model#/size dependant as they phase them in.

Strange, here is a photo of a 2013 Crosstrail Sport Disc, and it clearly works with the 2 bolt mount!
Bikes

But from your photo I can see you have the mechanical disc, instead of they hydraulic disc "sport" model. So seems either exact model dependant, or they eliminated it for 2015.

yea im not really that knowledgeable about bikes, but from my common knowledge should hydraulic brake take up more space then a mechanical? even so its strange that the frame isnt standardized you would think that a mechanical would have less spacing issue then hydraulic

Well my shop had fit me with one of the regular kikstands in between the bars. It's not as cool looking as my sons, but take a look at his, it didn't require any of the mounts.
