Bikes: Sirrus 5.0

Liked 11 Times in 7 Posts
I am researching different SPD-SL pedals and am looking for the weight of the stock alloy ones that come standard on the Sirrus X 5.0.

I know - I can probably nullify any difference in brands by skipping the 2nd bagel and cream cheese for breakfast. But still, I can't find relevant info on their website.

Anybody know?

Not info a bike mfg. would ever bother with.

I have those pedals lying around (came on the '19 Sirrus X Comp carbon [same bike as the 5.0]). No idea of the weight, other than: they are heavy, clunky things. No way at home to weigh them. What I can say: they are boat anchors compared with my usual -- Shimano XT Spd (xc version). If you're staying with platforms, I'm pretty sure you can do better than those stock ones as far as weight is concerned.

Anybody know the MSRP of this 2018 Sirrus Sport Carbon? I've found someone selling a lightly used one for $1500 CDN unsure if I'm stumbling on a deal or not.

Part No. 90917-6202

It's a 2017 model year, not 2018. Asking price is way too high; 2020 Sirrus 4.0 retails at 17-1800 Cdn: up-to-date with thru axles etc.

That 2017 in excellent shape? Maybe 900-1000 Cdn.

This helped me make my decision. Thanks so much.

I just bought the Sirrus Elite Alloy. I'd like to fit it with a rear rack + panniers for commuting purposes. I was looking at Specialized's Elite Rear Rack but read somewhere that it does not fit bikes with disc brakes (as mine has). Anyone have any experience fitting a rear rack to a Sirrus w/ disc brakes? I'd be interested to hear your recommendations.

How do you like your Elite Alloy? Iím stuck between the alloy, elite carbon, and the x 4.0.

It's been about 24 hours, so I can't say too much. I'm used to riding a not-very-well maintained Trek hybrid from the early 90s, so this feels like a spaceship. Much faster, lighter, more nimble than I'm accustomed to. I have had to adjust the disc brakes already because the front wheel was rubbing. And I'm having some issues shifting with the front derailleur. Don't want to blame the Sirrus for that, though. I think the LBS I bought it from might have just taken it from the truck and handed it to me... a bit disappointing.

Spacers for Sirrus

Hi, new to this forum. I just got my wife the sirrus elite carbon and Iím wondering if anyone has managed to raise the handle bar height? The spacers are not round and are difficult to source, even from specialized. I also thought that those were spacers in the pictures above . I have the FS on my diverge but didnít connect the dots....thanks in advance for any ideas to raise the handlebar height or shorten the reach.

Probably the simplest option? Replace the flat bar with a riser bar. This would at the same time increase the effective 'stack height' relative to the saddle, and slightly shorten the reach. Lots of bars available with anywhere from 1 to 3+ cms. rise, and varying degrees of sweep (back).

That's what I'd be tempted to try first. You wouldn't have to mess at all with that 'integrated' front end or replace the stem itself.

I thought about that too...but it was just fitted with a new s-works carbon flat bar by the seller. Iím trying to source for the original squarish spacers through the dealer now, will see how that goes.

thanks!

Is there a secret hex key hidden in the handlebars of the Sirrus?? That is so cool. Or, it would be cool if I could get the key out of the handlebars. Any thoughts, other than brute force?

My X Comp Carbon (now X 5.0) doesn't.

Is it integrated into that stock grip/bar-end assembly?

I can't post pictures... Yes, you just need pull out it from bar-end.

That's what I thought -- thanks! I do wish the 'X' versions came with this; not a big deal, but convenient given the thru-axles that require a hex key.

Recently converted my wife's 2020 Sirrus X Comp to 650b. 47mm tires have just enough clearance.

I just wanted to agree with the poster who stated the price was to high, but if you can get the seller down it is a great bike. I have over 8,000 miles on mine and it is a great ride.

Looks great! Is that the Jones loop bar? I love the concept of it, but I wish they'd make one with slightly less sweep. Do you feel your wrists a slightly too angled out, with its 45-degree backsweep?

I'm considering this bike. How do you like it? I've been trying to find real life pictures and reviews online but with no luck. Would you say it's worth the extra $$ for the upgrades?

Seller wouldn't budge and the bike is now sold, guess it wasn't meant to be. I can not seem to find any second hand carbon's anywhere in Canada.

Hi everyone, new rider (soon hopefully) as im looking to buy a new bike. Looking at the specialized X 2.0 and 3.0, there is a $250 difference between the two with a couple differences (extra gear, brakes, lighter fork I believe). If I went with the 2.0 is it worth upgrading later on, or should I just get the 3.0. Definitely prepared to pay for the 3.0 if its going to be worth it, but if its really minor I think I would go ahead and order a 2.0. Thanks!!

EDIT: Got a 2.0, didn't really see the worth for extra upgrade and im very content with the 2.0!

Back to be a bicycle rider after more than 30 years, so actually I am a "new" rider with limited test ride. My purpose is 30-60 mintues ride everyday for fitness in the city.
Tested Trek fx6/Sirrus6.0/Sirrus X5.0 ( I prefer carbon frame only ) and picked up Sirrus6.0. These are only 3 carbon frame hybrids I can find in my city.
After 50km ride, I'd like give it 9 out of 10:reduced from little bit noise rear system, 9.5kg(21lbs) weight(size LG).

If you do care about weight, you should try Canyon Roadlite cf 9.0(18.5lbs), but bit more expensive and bit upgrades.
If you do care about price, Sirrus expert carbon 2019 maybe better option, almost same as Sirrus6.0, but you can get more discount.
In my opinion, at $2,000 range, every bike is good, just do some test ride and choose one.
Cheers.

Thanks for the info! Iím in Canada so a Canyon is basically impossible for me to get unless I jump through a few inconvenient hoops which I just donít have energy for. If youíre able to post some pics of your bike Iíd love to see it! Thereís zero pictures online aside from the ones on the website.
