Your choice
 

This may seem a bit silly, but which bike would you choose? I have 2 and need to sell one. The first is a 2007 Giant cypress DX the second is a 2009 Trek 7300. The trek has trigger shifters and the Bontrager SPA intergrated fork shock. I'm not sure if the shock is very reliable as it is no longer in use. It did have a recall but it has been fixed. I bought both and have to get rid of one. What would you keep? I do prefer the trigger shifters and thought about adding them to the Giant but the Trek already has them. I know it's personal preference but I'd love to hear it from the group. Thanks

Nobody sells Giant Brand bikes in the County, though there is a Trek dealer within a mile of my house.

I just bought the trek last night. I really like the giant but I think the trek is great too. Haven't put any seat time in the trek yet. I'm going to tune and lube it tonight so I can ride it tomorrow.

Both are nearly identical to each other and to my Globe Carmel - upright comfort/hybrid types. I'd ride both for a couple of weeks at least before deciding. There might be minor differences in handling on rough roads, into winds, uphills grinds, on curves and fast downhills. It'll take several rides to sort out the minor differences.

I must have read your post wrong. I thought you had two but had to sell one. Did you mean you had two choices but can only buy one?

Nope, I can only keep one. Wife says I have too many toys

Keep the one that is the most fun for YOU to ride!

Keep both bikes and sell the wife!

Tips:

1) Tell her how fat you will get if you dont ride. Two bikes makes you ride twice as much = twice as lean and mean.

2) Too late for you but it might help others: Start n+1 before marriage. Show her your house with a bike in every room. Every. Room. In fact, you dont even have a dining table to make room for bikes. Open that linen closet, BAM spare wheel on her head

3) Deny. What new bike? It was here before you! This works better if you already have n+1 to hide things between

4) Its for her. You ride it

5) Disobey

It's cheaper to keep her.

#5 is already getting me in trouble.

If your bikes are toys, just feel lucky she lets you keep one. Mine are tools. :)

I've got a problem with having too many tools too. I hide mine! Lol

Since you just purchased the Trek, you don't really have a lot of data about likes/dislikes. Ride it for at least a week under as many conditions as possible and then decide which one suits your riding style/needs better.

Well, I decided to sell the Giant Cypress DX. It was a great bike but I like the Trek more. Now to put my own touches on it. This may be an endless cycle.
