Raleigh Hybrids
 

Just today I went out and picked up my new 2016 Raleigh Cadent. I love it, much lighter and faster than my other two bikes.

Anyway, does anyone else here have a Raleigh hybrid? I really never hear about Raleigh anymore, so it'd be cool to see some others.

My friend has the Raleigh and Pinarello dealership in Kyoto. His Raleighs are steel only, and he sells loads of them. You've got a great bike.

Wow! That's my favorite color. Remind my of my Trek FX. I noticed Raleigh has a lot of bikes that use disk brakes! This is good news and we are finally seeing more hybrids and road bikes with this technology. The last Raleigh I ever used a Record Ace from 1983. Very good bike.

My next bike may very well be a Raleigh hybrid. They have much better colors than Trek which seems to be stuck with black, gray and white.

Always liked the Misceo series. The all rigid version seems like a really good buy for the money.

This is my 2015 Roper, 525 Reynolds steel. One of the things that attracted me to this bike was that it was different than the more common hybrids. I rode over 2000 miles on it this year.

Raleigh Bicycles - Alysa i8

I recently bought a used 2013 Raleigh Alysa hybrid for my daughter, to be as a commuter and fitness bike. Hers has the Nexus 8-speed IGH driven by a chain. The 2016 version of the Alysa i8 has a Gates belt drive, very nice.

I was interested in this Cadent, but the lack of disc brakes was a deal breaker for me. Got caught in the rain a couple times, and those rim brakes suck ^%$# when they are wet.

Saw that Roper locally, and didn't like the gearing for my locality, but LOVED the paint job. Maybe, then will expand the line with better (for my local) gearing options.

here's my cadent. got a lot of mods for it coming. already changed a fizik seat and gold chain. shimano XTR brakes and ice rotors getting installed next. while the manaul disc brakes actually doesnt feel that bad, it could be better.

What are you planning to do with the rear brake line? Will the hydro line fit through the frame?

yep, the frame holds hydraulic lines just fine.

I've been curious about that for a while. Even some expensive bikes with internal cables for the shifters still run external hydro lines for the rear brake.

i have the cadent 3. the cadent 4 is more of a commuter looking bike but its the same frame but with hydraulic brakes. its ran through the frame as well. only thing is you make sure you dont stick a banjo bolt through it first :D

Agreed. Odd choice for an urban bike to mate a 46 tooth single chainring to an 11 - 28 cassette. I would think something like a 40 or 42 tooth chainring with a 11 - 32 would make more sense for most urban riders.

Its to keep the shop mechanic from quitting and faster assembly time at the factory. Considering most hydros come prebled, it would be a PITA to disconnect the hoses, drain it completely, thread it, and refill/purge. With exterior cabling, even cutting a prebled setup is easy without filling and bleeding the whole system. Interior routing is a quick way to find out who wrenches and who does not.

IMHO XTR brakes on that bike would be massive overkill. You wont generate enough heat for the cooling tech to come into play. Deore would brake just as well and costs about 60 bucks a wheel.

Overkill is ok. as long as overkill doesn't hinder my performance when im not using it to its potential. the money is no issue. i spend a lot on my car and motorcycle the same way. i like to buy things, take them apart and modify it to perform/look better and usually like buying the best of things. unlike my car, 300 dollar XTR brakeset sounds very cheap when you are use to paying 700 dollars for a set of brake pads for my car.

I'd have bought a frame and built the whole thing up if money was no concern. :thumb:

stuff like that, i would do with my road bike. Road bikes are fun for full builds.

My father use to have a Raleigh bike, when is saw the bike in my favorite color "lambo orange", i had to have it. components didnt matter to me much, i wanted the color and wanted the carbon fork. worked out well. the bike was only 600 so it wasn't bad at all.

It definitely looks nice. I like the two-tone look.
