Fuji Traverse sizing?

I found a nice Fuji Traverse and haven't gone and seen it yet. The owner is unsure of the size. I'm 5''8-9" with a 30" inseam. It looks like I'd need a 19" medium but would a 21" M/L work OK with some adjustments? I don't want to be cramped so I almost want to lean on the larger size.

Thanks for any input.

Fuji doesn't put a size chart on its website, recommending instead that you go to a dealer and be properly fitted. But that doesn't help much when you're buying second-hand.

So I looked at Giant's website to see what it recommends for the Roam (similar to the Traverse). It puts you on the border between S (17") and M (19"). They are not identical bikes, but that at least leads me to think the 19" would be good for you. Of course, as you already know, the best thing will be to go ride it and see how it feels.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, you might take a look at this thread from a few days ago regarding what to do if you're in between sizes. Not that it will settle anything for you, since there are opposing theories in it. But it should at least give you some things to pay attention to when you test ride.

I have a traverse, I'm 5'6" with 30" inseam. I have the 21" top tube , it's a good fit with the seat forward so your extra torso length would probably be OK.

Edit: that's the top tube line ftom stem to post, not the actual slanting tube length.

Thanks for the replies,

Yes I've been watching the thread on whether to go larger or smaller. I guess I just need to get on the bike. Hopefully I can do that tonight.

So what size Traverse do you have (S, S/M, M, M/L, L, XL)?

"s"

It turned out to be a medium (19") which seems to be just right. Thanks again for the input everyone.

So did you buy it?

Yep. I'm on the road for business now but will post some pics to my other 'new guy' thread.

Congrats, and enjoy the bike!

I'm 5'7" same inseam - I ride a 54 cm so if you're not riding a 29er, you'll want a 21 inch on a hybrid.
