Specialized Vita or Trek FX 7.1 or 7.2?
Hi! I am relatively new to cycling. I have been riding a Trek Navigator 300 and recently have been going about 25 miles a ride on weekends. I am planning to sign up for the Best Dam Bike Tour for MS in August (in WI).
I am thinking about upgrading my bike. I have been looking at the Specialized Vita -- love the sporty look. I am also considering the Trek FX 7.1 or 7.2. My Trek lasted forever. I am looking for something that is better for the distance riding I am planning to do. The big bike ride coming up would be 50/day two days in a row. I am looking for efficiency and also some comfort. I want a good quality bike but am on a pretty limited budget (preferably no more than $500ish).
Looking for advice from more experienced bikers who do these longer trips! Not interested in or ready for a road bike yet.

Honestly, neither. Both the 7.2 and the Vita are slightly lighter than the Navigator, and both have solid forks, but IMO, it is not enough improvement to justify the expense. Consider bumping your budget up a few hundred dollars and test ride a few road bikes, or just do the big ride on your current bike.
