Weight Weenies - recommendations for lightest clipless pedals (crankbrothers cleats)
Seeking recommendations for lightest clipless pedals that would fit the crankbrothers cleats.
There is the Titanium Eggbeater :-) but I'm not sure yet whether I want to plop the money for those. :-)
This is for my commuter Sirrus. Over time I have done just about anything I could for lightening it up. I am currently using Mallet 2 on it. I figured I could go lighter.

Keeping your cleats will be difficult; but look into Speedplay, Bebop, or Keywin if you like obscure.
FWIW weight loss on pedals is not worth it IMO; go for the mechanism that works best for your conditions. Mallet 2 is 495g a pair, even standard SPDs will take 100g off.

Non omnino gravis
If you're looking to lighten the bike, and are already fully aware it won't make any real difference in performance, look at cranks, wheels, and tires. Those are the places you can take the most weight off of a bike, because aside from the frame, they're the heaviest bits.
Just remember it's not going to do much. I recently changed pedals, and the new ones are over 150g lighter for the pair than the old ones. Absolutely no measurable differences. Unless the pedals are doing something wrong, replacing them is for vanity only. Mine wouldn't stop squeaking, and they were driving me insane. I don't care that the new ones are lighter, just that they're quiet.

Yeah. I know. It's really just a game at this point. I'm already on carbon wheels, handlebars, post, stem, phenom saddle, tubeless... :-) The pedals are the only thing left. :-)
P.S. .... and I'm still slow ! :-)
