2016 Cannondale Quick 5 vs 2017 Specialized Sirrus

Hello everyone - I have extensively researched this forum and now finally settled on the following two bikes. I am a beginner with zero cycling experience and would like to keep my budget to $500 USD. Before I bite the bullet, I would like to get some guidance on which bike to purchase. Looking forward to guidance and thanks in anticipation

Both bikes are very comparable to each other. The specifics are things you will have to decide for yourself like how you feel on each bike. I don't think you would go wrong with either bike but I will throw my two cents in and say I would prefer the Cannondale. You may get advice/personal prefernce about the difference in the aluminum fork vs. steel fork or maybe one component or tire brand is better. Bikes to me have always been 25% quality of components and 75% how I feel riding it.

Short story, long...My suggestion is for you to go test ride both bikes and see what you think.

I agree with jase33. Go and ride both and see which one you like/fits better. They are very comparable components wise. I will also add the Trek FX 2 to this mix.

Good luck and make sure you post pictures of whichever one you end up buying.

Thanks for the great feedback. I will definitely try them out first.

Also I noticed that my LBS has two more bikes on sale. Any recommendations?

2017 Specialized Sirrus Disc - $499 (Like the discs but not the looks)
2017 Cannondale Quick 6 - $550 (Like the looks but no discs and still $50 more expensive)

That 2016 Cannondale Quick 5 in black with the red/white accents looks pretty cool. As others have said, they are all pretty comparable to each other. After finding what fits you better, I will pick what looks better in my eyes.

Cannondale

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am leaning towards Cannondale (rode it @LBS). Now i have two options

2016 Cannondale Quick 5 -- $439 USD
2016 Cannondale Quick 4 -- $500 USD

The LBS had the 5 in stock and i liked it. They can transfer 4 from their other store. But my question is that is the 4 worth the extra $60 for carbon fork?

Over the lifetime of the bicycle, probably.

I doubt you would notice much of a difference. I think that one should be a judgement call on your end. Take a look at each bike as a whole and decide what you like / prefer best and go with that. Having said that I think adding a carbon fork for $60 is a pretty good deal.
