I had had the same thought, but it didn't work well for me. With my relatively short fingers, and the trigger shifters inside of the bar ends, it was awkward reaching the shifter. So I went back to the bar ends as "ends", and yes, had to lower the mirror. However, I find that to be actually better (for me), because I can better see the mirror, i.e. don't have to look down as much.
Whatever works and makes for an enjoyable ride!

Funny!
I just noticed, from the pictures, that the two bar ends were at different angles from each other! Now I've made the adjustment.
Funny that I haven't noticed the difference, and I'm normally quite sensitive to things like that!

No worries and I appreciate it. I've been thinking about changing a few things about my rides due to the area I'm riding now. Like wearing a helmet and getting a mirror on my handle bars but don't see much room to add one. Alot of my riding is done on roads and I have a lot of trouble trusting people behind the wheel of a car
