what is your average speed on giant escape 3 ? and how max speed is achievable on this bicycle ?

93km/h average here. Top speed was recorded by a radar detector at 168Km/h in a 20km/h speed limit zone. It was a hefty ticket.

I ride a Giant Escape 1 and average between 13 and 14 mph depending on the route I take. I have Crossroads Armadillo tires on the bike which does make it a bit slower than the stock tires. I put the Crossroads on after the back tire wore out in less than 1,000 miles.

I have an Escape 1. I go 12-15 mph on a flat depending on how I feel and whom I am riding with. I can push it to 19. I'm old and fat so that's on me. Fastest speed depends on how steep the hill is.

I'm not sure why some people feel compelled to take an innocent but serious question and make dumb-arse comments; seems like it's par for the course from some here on the Bike Forum.

It depends on where you are riding for sure, but ride a Giant Roam 1 which is a pretty similar bike to the Escape.

I checked my Runtastic stats for several of my rides in the 50-60 km [~35 mile] long range from last year, the course winds through the south end of my City and follows a combination of low-volume streets, paved bike paths and gravel bike paths. Some of the segments are straight, some of them are very winding. It's in the prairies, but some of the segments have a bit of reasonable grade down into a river valley (and back up), but most is primarily "flat".

Here''s the stats on average:

Max instantaneous speed: 35 km/h [22 mph] (that would be sprinting down a hill for a short stretch)

Fastest 1 km segment average speed: 28 km/hr [17 mph]
Slowest 1 km segment average speed: 16 km/hr [10 mph]

Average Speed for the 50-60 km ride: 21 km/hr [13 mph]

When calculating the average speeds, the computer pauses itself when it senses you have stopped (for red lights, etc), but it includes the slow-down and speed-up to and from the stop in the calculations, so it is a little bit skewed to slower because of this, if you know what I mean (it, it only pauses calculating when you are actually completely stopped).

I consider myself an "average" rider, not the fastest, not the best shape, but not out of shape either. Just an average Joe. The REAL Joe...

My max speed with a 2019 Giant escape 3 size XL with heavy lock and mud wards is 42 km/h or 25 miles/h, flat road not down a hill.
I guess I may go little bit faster (not so much) but I would need longer road since I normally cycle in the city or prom.
It is a nice bike for city or conmute, but it is not a speed bike.

Giant escape 3 disc 2019 is designed to reach 30 mph, this is 48 km/h max.
With my giant escape 3 disc 2019 size XL I reach 25 mph (41 km/h) in a flat road, not down a hill.

Strange question, if you want SPEED then it would make sense to by a "serious ROAD bike" not a hybrid, jmho. Hybrid's best attribute is that's it's "versatile" Rail Trail, Urban streets, even light touring with the right panniers and rack set up, they are not about top speed!! YMMV, have a excellent day!

I'm old & fat, working myself into better shape, tend to ride in the 15-20 km/h range without wind or hills on my 2019 Giant Escape 3.
I've hit in the low 30s when I was pushing it hard.
