Numbers on top of handlebar stem
1 Attachment(s)
Guys,
I'm new to this forum and just bought a 2017 specialized sirrus sport. Love the bike but after riding for a few weeks, I am getting some neck and arm pain. I think I need to raise the handlebars. I don't think the bike had any handlebar adjustments but there are some numbers on top of the stem. Do these numbers do or mean anything? What us the best way to get my handlebars closer/higher so there is less pressure on my arms and neck. |
If it's a Specialized bike it may have a stem where the angle can be adjusted with shims.http://service.specialized.com/colla...tion-Guide.pdf

Thanks, I saw this also but the bike didn't come with any shims. I asked the bike shop and they told me to buy a new stem. But those numbers have to do something right?

On the side of the stem should be the specs.
Something like 7 degree 115mm or similar. You could go for something like a 15 degree 115mm to rise it up a bit. You could also go shorter which will set your shoulders back and rise you up. I don't think the top cap markings are important. I changed mine from a 15 degree 115 mm to a 15 degree 90mm to do the same for my riding position. Mick |
