Trek 7.4 fx and Specialized Sirrus Sport Disc
Found these two on CL...one looks like a 2015 Trek 7.4 FX being sold for $260. Is that a steal?? Also a Specialized Sirrus Sport Disc (2014 I think) for $550. I know that's overpriced, so I'd offer $400 or $450 because of the extras. Links are below..

I don't think that Sirrus Sport has a carbon fork.

You can't go far wrong with either bike. I have a 2014 Specialized Sport Disc and love it. I also have a vintage Trek 730 MultiTrack and love it. Let us know which you buy. Those are both great choices at nice prices.

No response from the sellers yet, but I'll snag one of them if they are still available. How about this Trek DS? I believe it's a 2015 8.3, being offered for $450. Also looks like it's at a pawn shop...does that change anything?

Seems a little high. Don't know what the seller means when he says he paid $1,000 last year. $400 seems more like it.

Yeah I was thinking $400, too, and $450 max. I'm sure the bike is in great condition, but Bicycle Blue Book doesn't even put it at $400 for "excellent," and I don't think the add-ons hold on to much value, right?

What add ons? A computer and some Ergon grips? No, not worth paying a lot extra for. In fact, those Ergon grips with long bar extensions are, IMO a slight negative as it makes the bike look like a mid 90s mountain bike. I would tell the seller to keep those, and his computer and sell me the bike for $400.

Seller declined $400. Think it's still a fair deal if I offer $450? It'd get me a new bike and I can be done hunting CL and enjoy the bike, so that's worth something haha. Do I dare go higher than $450?

Otherwise a Trek 7.3 FX just popped up on CL... I don't know enough about the upgrades to tell if they are worth anything.

Not sure. I'm assuming the seat cover, saddle bag, and water bottle holder will be included. But they're worth nothing.

You might want to just check at the LBS. Maybe they have a bike from last year on clearance.

If that Sirrus is the right size, and like new, it would be a good buy at 450 = MHO

Is that 7.4 FX still available? That seems like a very good price. It would do okay off road with different tires, but the DS will still be a better bike for trail riding.

I agree. According to Bicycle Blue Book, the bike is worth somewhere around $400:

There could be a reasonable explanation. Maybe the bike needs a little work, and the price reflects that. Or maybe the owner is pricing for a quick sale. you need to feel the situation out. If it seems fishy, walk away. Because if it turns out the bike was stolen, you might find yourself having to defend yourself against a receiving stolen property charge, or if not that, would still be bad karma to (knowingly) benefit from another's misfortune.
