Do you see the Fastroad as notably worse in this regard, or it doesn't really make much difference between a Fastroad and Sirrus, as that is not a design element you like?

Having said that, I do really like the frame design of the Jamis Coda Elite and Surly LHT for their straight top tubes, both of them are bikes I find quite attractive.

Congrats on the bike, you will love it.. I just got the Carbon Expert X2..I went back and forth with which to get and figured if I ever change my mind I could easily make it x1. I'd post pictures but I can't figure out how to do it in this site from my Macbook without completely mutilating them.

I did a bunch of mods to mine already, all were worth it. I redid the entire cockpit in Carbon, Enve bars, and stem and S works Carb Bar endz. Then I took off the stock saddle and replaced it with the Phenom, whoa! what a difference for me-saddles are personal though. I then replaced the brakes with XT Deore and Ice Tech rotors. And I put on a set of Raceface Chester Pedals, the composite ones. I was going to go Boomslang, but the extra money wasn't worth it for a heavier pedal. And where pedals usually get thrashed composite is good in this location. I also took off the stock tires and put on a set of Clement MSO Xplors which make the bike handle even better. Oh and by the way this frame handles magnificently off road on light trails/gravel, whatever you want to call it. You have to watch your lines a bit more if you come across something a bit technical moreso than on a MTN bike but I tend to like that about the ride experience. I wouldn't take it into any crazy technical trail situations, but light trail the bike is a BLAST to ride. Your X1 will perform well there. Last thing I did was I took off the hideous stickers on the wheels with a heat gun to give it even more of a stealth look. I did replace it with some 2cm 3M black relfective tape which I put strategically all over the bike since sometimes I ride early in the am. that tape is awesome stuff, can't even notice it on these bikes.. Next I am taking the crank off and putting on the carbon crank that comes on the Pro version, then next year carbon wheels. Yes I have lost my mind over this bike!

Enjoy it and I agree the carbon feel is very different, its so smooth and quiet, sometimes I just ride around smiling the entire time.

The Fastroad is definitely worse in my eyes; quite hideous, even though it is otherwise a lovely bike! The current Sirrus just has that little dip near the seat tube junction; not nearly as bad (again, to my eye).

I have studied your mods carefully, i knew i wanted 1x11 so i just went for it. I was just thinking
About removing the wheel stickers last night. As far as pedals go, i am happy with the ones my lbs sold me. They are mtb pedald
But i like how they look, planning on getting the plug and play fenders, stix lights and something to put in the second water bottle holder. Already have a quad lock mount comming and a mis match adaptor for the shifter. I will get photos out next week

Nice can't wait to see pics! The 1x is awesome, you will be happy with it, bike handles so well it's amazing really.

On the lights I went with the Bontrager Flare on the back and the Ion on the front...The Flare is CRAZY attention getting. give it a try in a LBS, it's pretty impressive.

finally was able to get out for the first time on this one today. Rode my longest distance ever. several people came up to me and said "nice bike" I didn't know what to say. the last 10 miles or so my neck and but really began to hurt, I think I definitly need different handlebars and possibly a different seat. I think this phenom seat feels a bit narrow. I am going to try the seats from my other two bikes to see if they make a difference. Other than that, shifting was precise I love the 1X11 setup. Brakes were great, I have the same brakes on 2 other bikes. the Quad lock is wonderful as well. the bar ends and grips were good I don't seem to have had much wrist pain. I set strava PRs on my ride I think about 20. it was definitly the fastast and farthest ride I have done in my life. bike is solid and silent.

Thank you Colonel, honestly that was one of the reasons I wanted this one. Yesterday I took it for its first ride, man so many people came up to me saying nice bike and wanted to know what kind of bike it was. I am going to have to make a few changes though, the seat is too narrow and the handlebars too low causing me some pain I have 2 seats on other bikes I am going to try and new handlebars are on the way. More photos to come.

other than that, I am super happy so far, rode 38 miles Saturday which for me is a record. a year ago I could barely manage 11. and this thing is so easy to carry in and out of the house I think I will be on the bike even more this year.

Seats are very personal obviously...But try the Phenom, it solved the same issue you are having for me. Bike looks great and nice work on the 38, got me beat by a longshot. Most i've logged on one ride is 22.

A year ago I could barely do 10, and I couldnt ride the next 2 days, one year later I am progressing nicely. just keep it up try to get out on the bike even if it is only an hour, get out 2-3 days a week.

Actually the seat that is on the bike now is a Phenom, however it is too narrow, I checked it is 143mm or so, my other bikes have like 155 or so, I am going to try both of those seats over the next couple of weeks on some long rides and see how they do.

Here is the Seat is says "Phenom" on the side, it is most definitly too narrow for me. I am going to try my other specialized saddle, the Henge on my 2016 Stumpjumper carbon comp. if that makes a difference, I may get another one, or maybe a wider phenom. dont know, but I am not mounting the lights until I have tried a few, I think my shop may have some I can try as well.

the stem and spacers are not round on the x1, however, I did order the Stix Headset spacer mount and it came with a round mount as well, that way I can put it on my other bike and just move the light as needed. it was only 5 dollars US from specialized. Stix headset spacermount with 10mm spacer part number 49116-9335

Sweet lights those looks slick! So does the X1 come with the Phenom? I know the expert does, mine didn't and mine is the equivalent to the X1 just 2x. Anyway, like I said very personal..try some different seats. I had a fitting on my bike, decided for once in my life to just pay the $100 and get fitted, very well worth it bike fits like a glove now. But it sure is a neat way to get you to spend more $$ on parts that "fit" better.

Yeah, I am lucky, my bike shop is mostly a mountain bike shop. I try to spend money there, but these guys don't want me buying something I don't necessarily need. I plan on trying my MTB seat, it is wider with a bit more padding, so it should confirm the width, the the Phenom is very similar but thinner padding. it might be ok in a wider size.

Hey axxman, I needed a wider seat for my Crosstrail, when I had it, and found that some of the Spesh seats do come in a wider width. I ended up getting the Specialized Avatar Comp in 155mm. For me that has solved the issue nicely and when I traded the Crosstrail in for my 2016 Sirrus Comp Carbon I simply had them put that seat onto the Sirrus. They sure are beautiful bikes, like you, I get a lot of compliments on the bike, and the true beauty is they handle and perform just as nice as they look!

Took my Henge seat off my StumpJumper, going on a 3-4hr ride tommorrow will see how it does. it is slightly wider but here is much more surface area, the padding is more gel like, and the cut out in the middle is wider and longer. the stock Phenom comp seat does come in a wider size, I will see if my shop will let me try one out. I don't wear a chamois, I used to however once I started riding specialized, I realized I did not need it. Hopefully this works.

After putting some miles on my mountain bikes saddle. things were much better. So I went with the Henge Expert in the 155mm size. pics comming shortly, going for another ride now though.

No, and I have a 1x11 on my mountain bike as well(converted from 2X10). My Sirrus was designed to be 1X11 from the factory. shifting is precise and the drive train quiet. I had my shop do my mountain bike, my mechanic has 18+ years experience, he picked out the parts and did the conversion and I have had 0 drops in almost 6 months from back pedaling. I asked my mechanic about it, he said it has to do with taking the time to align everything correctly when you change from a 2X setup. for me, I think I maybe lose a little top speed but I rarely even get into top gear, much less spin out, so I am quite happy with this setup. less cable less shifter less stuff to greas, lube clean. for me, it is the perfect bike for pavement.

I was testing a sirrus X1 today. And I had it on the biggest gear ( i am guessing it's gear 1). When I back pedal, it would drop down one gear without me changing the gear. I ask the tech and he say the 1x does it. And I felt a little cross chains, it that normal ? Or they just didn't take the time to set it up correctly? I also tested the carbon sport, it wasn't smooth at all. I felt the Chain wasnt line up with the cassett. Made noise at very gear.
