Trek DS1

I live in Spain and am looking for my first Hybrid bike for use on roads, trails, loose chippings and just really rough dirt tracks
Is this bike a good fit for me?
Do you know what size wheels and tyres the bike comes with?

The DS line will do well on roads, trails, chippings and moderate rough dirt. The worse the dirt track gets, the worse it will hold up. I got the DS with somewhat similar intentions, yet have only been on one rough trail so far, and it I thought it was fine. I'm sure a MTB would have been better, but for versatility the DS is solid.

Stock rims are Bontrager Connection alloy, 32h. With Bontrager LT2, 700x38c tires. The frame is capable of housing up to 29"x1.8" MTB tires w/o fenders.

If you do decide to go with the DS, I'd suggest considering at least a DS2 for the better components. Mostly for the better brakes, drivetrain, & lockout suspension. The blendr capable stem system is also nice on the 2+'s.

Thanks Karmajack appreciate your advice, my problem over here is that I have to drive to Alicante to be able to try the bike. Every time i try to go into any Trek website I get a 404 error message so i cannot even access them to ask if they have the bike in stock, very frustrating but will look at your suggestion if i can find some info on the DS2 and prices for Spain
Thank again

There must be something wrong with your internet connection because I even changed my IP address to a Spanish one and was able to access any Trek site. Anyways, the DS 1 is 449,00 € and the DS 2 is 549,00 €

The requested URL was not found on this server.
So how strange.
But thanks for that i have also found a place in Elche nearer to me that also has both bikes 425 and 525 respectively. Going to test ride them both next week
Thanks again

Ok have sorted it out and have now been able to access their websites But was told on another forum that the DS1 has a screw-on freewheel which means that the rear axle will be vulnerable to breakage; it is symptomatic of this bike in general
Both DS1 and DS2 models are unnecessarily heavy (for your intended use) IMHO because they have rather heavy front suspension fitted. Most experienced cyclists wouldn't bother with suspension for your intended use.
This has got me a little concerned as i dont want to buy a bike then find I have problems a few weeks down the line
What do you guys think?
