Bought my new ride today.

A 2018 Giant Roam 3 in blue.

Store only had a black/green model, but I test road it to see how it stacked against other similar brands/models.

In the end, the Giant won out by a small margin.

Also purchased a kickstand for it.

Should have it next week.

Already looking at accessories like the Topeak DeFender iglow TX fender set and the Topeak Super tourist rack and EXP trunk bag to round out the look/functions I want on it.

I still haven't found a Kickstand for my Giant Toughroad SLR2 nor have I found Fenders

I almost bought the Roam.. it is a solid Bike.. and it looks great in Blue.. I tried the Roam 2 and 3.. I honestly didn't feel a diff in between them.. I saw the Roam 1 which looked sick..

I wanted more of a Touring Bike so I ended up going with the Toughroad..

as for Rack I went with the Ibera that is compatible with Disc Brakes.. I also bought the Trunk Bag and Panniers.. I will be getting Ortliebs eventually and a front rack..

Part of me still tosses up whether or not I should have saved the money and went with the Roam.. It is a Great Bike..
saying that.. I do love my Toughroad SLR2.. It looks like it would belong to the Sith.. haha

as you add to it.. post some pictures..

That rack/bag is a great addition.

Santa brought me one for my Roam 2 (disc).

Sorry, no pics since it's 22 degrees here & I haven't mounted them yet!

Yeah, it's freaking cold here as well. Will be for another week. Hopefully, when my bike arrives, the weather will soften up and I can take some short joy rides.

Will do. Was eyeing the Escape City as well, but after a quick ride on an escape the store had, I decided I definitely wanted a suspension fork. Really helps on absorbing the dips, bumps, and potholes more than I would have guessed.

I'm doing a touring style setup, but with a slightly sporty twist with the fender selection.

Congrats, welcome to the Roam family. Great, versatile bike! Post some pics!

If you bought the Giant kickstand? you'll be pleased. Heavy, but man its pretty sweet.

Took delivery today. Went for a quickie ride in the cold. So far so good. And yes, it is a Giant kickstand. Very beefy.

Thanks for the compliments. It was between this and a Crosstrail at another LBS. The Crosstrail looked awesome as well. Dark blue with orange pinstripe on the top tube. They didn't have my size in stock. Either way, I had to order what I wanted. So, the slightly better gearing won out. If the other shop had that Crosstrail in my size, I'd went back and grabbed it. I feel either one would have been a good bike.

Been adapting myself to cooler riding. Normally, I wouldn't dream about riding in 20 and 30*F weather. Having a nice bike motivates me to find a way. I purchased some cool weather gloves and a balaclava that were on discount at the LBS when I picked up the bike. Dug out an old performance fleece jacket. Been experimenting with layers. Rides are getting longer. 50* today. Did a nice, 6 mile ride. Even though I've been out of cycling regularly for about 2 years, my out of peak self still beat my best time. Love riding a bike with lower resistance and better fit. About 11 1/2mph average. Up around 2mph from 2 years ago.

Depends on which 1/3 you live in. We have it all but the beach.

Eastern TN is the plateau and climbing elevation to the Appalachian mountains, Middle TN is highland rim/edge of plateau, mostly rolling hills. West TN, is rolling hills to Mississippi Delta plains and flatlands. I'm on the eastern edge of Middle TN. So, my ride is rolling hills for the most part.

Bike looks great due. Love the blue. We have a lot of rolling hills in WI too. Makes the rides more interesting.

Accessories added. Still need a basic computer, the trunk bag, pump, and probably some Ergon GP5s.

I really like the overall look, it all comes together very nicely. I was gonna ask you what the make of the fenders were for my bike so thanks for sharing
