You're right dear, they are the same.

My wife walked out into the garage yesterday when I was putting the new toe cages on my new Quick 3. She looked at the two bikes, the 7 and the 3, and said they are the same. She is not a cyclist so I decided to point out the differences. I said Yes except that the wheels tires, hubs, brakes, fork, frame, the cranks and crank length, chain set, rear cassette, shifters, bar, stem, headset, are all different but the grips, seat and pedals are the same. My wife of 49 years gave me the look, that look, walked out of the garage to work on her garden. I believe I may have gone a bridge too far this time.
Be safe all, Frank.

The orientation of the left grip is the same (and unusual) on both bikes.

Did she notice that?

Within the full range of bike shaped objects she's 100% correct. The differences you describe are miniscule micro-optimizations in relation to some of the things with wheels and pedals you see in the world.

I'm travelling on the other side of the world from my home in the US this month. I wish I were faster with my camera to demonstrate how broad the range is. It would lend perspective in much the same way that all tuna is tuna or all snow is snow, if you live somewhere where it is so.

You've probably got about one sentence to work in when answering a question to a non-enthusiast. Sometimes I focus on use case, as in: "that's my bike with studs for when the roads are icy".

And to be fair -

we talked later and my wife is happy that I found something I liked and she is glad I am enjoying it. We have been married for 49 years so we do understand each other - - - most of the time.

Be safe, Frank.

Except for the color and the white walls, they pretty much the same to me

No suspension, no tricycle frame, no ape hangers, no racks - what's the difference again

Not here and she has indoors and outdoors gardens and cold tolerant flowers, please, don't get me started.

Actually , those are reflective rings on the tires that really light up when hit with the flash.

Perfect response, when you get a new bike make it black or yellow and she'll never know.

Funny you would say that as she just pointed out a Giant MTB that came up on the Village email . Unfortunately it is much to large a frame but she said she will continue to look for me.

In your opinion, she has passed the 49 year audition, then?

They aren't even the same color!

What is she talking about?

Go out to her garden and tell her all her roses look the same and she should only have 1.

Now that sounds like a great relationship when your spouse supports what you enjoy doing in life! You should return the favor and go buy her a few more rose bushes!

But the points of contact are the same, and as near as I can see the foot-hand-saddle distances and orientation look the same, so I think your wife is more right than not. Maybe one has a longer top tube, and the other a different rake angle, but not enough to see. Tell her that at least one BF member agrees with her.
