Love It

Hi All! I just picked up a used 2013 Absolute 1.4 about 6 or 7 weeks ago. It was supposed to be a back up to my road bike (Specialized Roubaix). Turned out that I liked it so much I sold the road bike!

Very, very pleased!
Best regards

Thanks! Actually I believe that in 2013 it was only available in red. I added a red bottle cage and the white with red saddle (same model that came with the bike -Oval Concepts 300). I thought about getting red pedals, then realized that for me, it would be ridiculous. I certainly couldn't see the pedals when riding, and I already have a new (purchased late last winter) pair of pedals to be used primarily in cold weather months.

The bike, with an Alivio derailleur up front and Deore in back, shifts flawlessly and buttery smooth. I actually find the system better than the Ultegra groupset I had on my road bike!

Best regards

2012 Fuji Absolute 2.0 mixte/step-thru

Hi All, I'm very glad to have found this thread!

My friend is 4'10" and is having a hard time finding a road bike. We came across a small step thru/mixte 2012 Fuji Absolute 2.0 that fits her really well. It looks like a pretty zippy little flat bar road bike but we're not sure.

Can anyone tell me if this bike would be appropriate for 40-50 mile rides, or is it more of an around town commuter/hybrid/work out bike? This is the only information I can find on the bike. https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/fuji/absolute_2.htm

Thanks for any information or opinions!

Just a couple of quick comments:

01- BikesDirect, you have to finish putting the bike together yourself,
02- No disc brakes, would want that, if buying new,
03- I think it would be okay for 40-50 mile rides.
04- From my local Fuji dealer (you should be able to also) you can buy this one for only $100 more, from a Fuji dealer, looks like yours but with disc brakes, and would be fully assembled and it is a 2020 model:

Absolute 1.9 ST

  • $479.99
Couple of other comments, what to look for:

01- 3 Chain Rings up front are history, most all newer bikes have 2 chain rings, and the newest only 1 chain ring (1x12) up front, lot less to have to keep up with.
02- Shimano 105 drive train really is nice, mine has it (Absolute 1.1), it was $825 as a left over, if riding with any frequency, or distance, easily worth the extra cost, especially for those longer rides.

Ride On !

4-10 is a tough fit for 700c. Many issues pop up, the main one being toe overlap. I'd recommend finding a used Terry, they were made for smaller women. This one uses a smaller front wheel to maintain standard geometry.

Pokey Pedalers !

We'll we just finished our 6th ride of the year, it was a beautiful day (SAT 08-08).

We rode from Jones Point Park in Alexandria VA over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail to National Harbor Trail and back.

We wanted to take the DC Water Taxi back to Old Town and ride back through Old Town, but we were at National Harbor at 12:30pm and the taxi wasn't scheduled to run back until 2:30pm, too long to wait.

A couple of pictures from our ride:

The Lobster Rolls were delicious.

After lunch, had to ride the Capital Wheel, A/C was felt so good, could of taken a nap.

The ride back to VA.

The Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail is up there!

The Green Hornet on the MD side of Woodrow Wilson Bridge, there is a big park over top the Beltway there.

Lunch at National Harbor was hard to beat.

Next Ride is SAT 08-22 on the W&OD Trail from Ashburn to Leesburg and back, meet there 9am and lunch at 1pm at:

Carolina BBQ is right on the W&OD Trail, 1/4 Rack of Ribs and 2 sides $10!

If anybody is interested meet us there, or give a shout! We have 6 more rides left this year: Antietam Battlefield, Harpers Ferry, C&O Canal, more W&OD, etc.

Fun, Food, and Adventure!

RIDE ON!
