You've come along way since the initial tyre mismatch banter, to having a great bike.

Changing the set up to make it individual is fun and this is the same reason why I love my two main bikes so much.

I whinged often about the bits and pieces breaking on the Cannondale over time, but after replacing the "junk" with "nice bits", now it's my bike, exactly how I want it. My Orbea though is different, because fortunately I was able to build it from scratch so it too is exactly how I want it.

It was decided to "hybridize" the rarely used MTB standing in my garage... To be a second hybrid for my wife, but it turned out to be the first hybrid and the first real bike for my 7 year old daughter.
BTW - it is lighter by 5.5 lbs than her Trek MT220 with 24" wheels (I'm wondering what kind of iron they use to build the bikes for kids)

Best I don't show my daughter this bike. She is very unhappy she hasn't got an MTB / Hybrid.

I know, mean father but I tried to persuade her last year to go that way (actually BMX) BUT she chose the 24" city bike option.

I just going to change couple of things - first the bar ends will go and may be I will try a low-riser (may be).. But bar ends she will not use for a year or so - the reach will be a little too long.
The other thing - the saddle. Obviously it is not a kids saddle - Selle Royal came from my Bad Boy.
But which one? - it is not like she complains but I'm sure because she does not know any better.

Since many of us are fathers I would use some advice on the saddle for 7-10 y.o.

The rear triangle is not rigid, allowing the chainstays to flex.

Many years ago I saw the same concept on KHS mountain bike - it called Softtail - the frame was steel and at the same point there was a "suspended" link...

I'm not sure how much sense does it make but looks cool...

Looks like Specialized decided to overwhelm the user with unusual decisions...

The suspension is controlled at the bumper. Perhaps better described in this case as dampening, although I don't know the technical definitions. I wouldn't say the metal's flexibility is used for suspension, more that it allows the dampening (suspension) to be effective. Maybe splitting hairs.

It's a road bike, it doesn't move much, just an elastomer bumper to smooth the ride a little. Maybe closer to Zerts than YBB. The Moots actually has over an inch of travel. I may have wrong to suggest this bike had the same sort of "pivotless suspension" as the YBB, although both Moots and Specialized use that phrase to describe their designs.

Hamongle, your Roulux is a great looking bike and it looks like a great riding bike too. Congrats! Do you have any idea about the amount of travel the bumpers actually provide?

yeah, it doesnt make sense to me because metal gets fatique over time... anyway, your Roulux 1 is one nice looking bike.

Metal gets fatigue ... if it is strained over it's limit.
As long as you keep it within it's limits ... depending on the exact alloy ... it's going to be fine and will make for an excellent suspension.
The rubber bit makes sure the metal can't move further than it's supposed to go.
Personally I can see a huge future for this sort of suspension.
When done right it can really help and it doesn't add any weight to the bike.
