You have the same bike as me , although everything on my bike is still stock. I really want to change out the saddle, pedals, and tires. I really like what you did with yours.

EDIT: And where'd you get your decals from?

FINALLY! A FELLOW ASTRAL 2.0 RIDER! YAY! The red and white tape is just reflective tape from Ace Hardware. The stock saddle on the Astral 2.0 sucks. I put on the discarded saddle from my brother's Specialized hardtail MTB. The pedals I put on are Shimano PD-M520 MTB clipless pedals. I HATED having platforms, and I ran toe clips for a while. Got some L-bend bar ends from Performance bike for $13 and wrapped them with handlebar tape. I hated the stock bar ends because they didn't offer very many hand alternate hand positions. I got some 28mm road tires because I seldom went off the concrete. I swapped out the cables for white Jagwire cables.

Here it is in it's near-stock form. This picture was taken about 2 weeks after purchasing it. I swapped out the saddle and tires at this point.

Edit: Actually, I just found a picture of it how I stored it when I first got it because I was so excited about it. I stored it in my room. In this picture, it is 100% stock.

Yup looks almost exactly like mine. Looks like you got your's from sports authority as well . I'm actually the bike tech at my sports authority, so i got to mess around with the bike as soon as it came in to our store and fell in love. It was everything i wanted and looked great. I've been browsing through what i could order for my bike through our catalog, but looking at yours has given me a ton of ideas.

I feel like I know more about bikes than the bike tech at my local Sports Authority. They didn't know that the rim is not 700c, but is actually 622. They didn't know what it meant for a wheel to be out of round.

700c and 622mm can apply to the same rim.

700c is a size, like wearing a size large shirt. 622mm is the actual diameter, like wearing a 16.5/35 shirt dress shirt.

Yes, but when I told the guy that the new wheel I needed him to order was a 622x16, he acted like I was speaking another language. I told him that a 622 wheel actually measures 700mm with a 35 or 38 (I wasn't sure) tire on it. He still had no idea what I meant. He then looked on a floor model Astral 2.0 and saw the "700x35" on the tire and ordered a "700x35" wheel. I got it and it said 622x18. I had them order the wheel because the bike is under warranty and I didn't have to pay for it if they ordered it.

9 times out of 10 you're probably right. Sports authority has little focus on training in the bike department and my own managers have no idea the kind of work I do in the shop. The person who trained me when I first started 8 months ago did a horrible job. Among many things, he told me to adjust the derailleur, I have to play with the H & L limit screws, then detach and reattach the derailleur cable. If that didn't work I had to try that again. I had a lot of fun failing at that "method" -__-.

Oh yeah i gotta post a picture of my bike. I shall add one tomorrow

Updates to the Dew

Cross-posted in the Commuting forum, but thought I would post it here too. Here is my Kona Dew with it's most recent changes coming in the form of Nite Rider lights (front and rear) and a Cateye Enduro 8 cyclocomputer. I love this bike.

That's hawt. If this was the commuting forum, I would say at the Brooks. I do appreciate the look of classic leather, but not nearly as much as the crazy people in the commuting forum .

Thanks AlphaDogg! And I agree -- while I am enjoying the Brooks, I admit that some of the commuters do tend to go a bit crazy with them. I think it looks nice with the sedona red bike frame, and it is already more comfortable than the saddle that came stock with the Dew. The "break in" period does take some getting used to though. Interestingly, some road racer types rolled up on me the other day during my commute and had some snide remarks about the Brooks, telling me that I "only have another 5,000 miles before that Brooks doesn't feel so brutal". Sometimes I get annoyed that these different subcultures of cycling can't just get along. LOL.

There are faster ways to get a Brooks broken in, like 2 Hr's. But ya got to be real real careful doing it.

Installed a Bike App for my iPhone called IBike+ and installed a phone mount to the handle bars. the mount/case has the sensor receiver built in so I now have GPS,Speed,Cadence and Heart rate. I think the Phone mount and case is a bit big, but it's water proof and has good padding. Can't wait to give it a go!.

Throwback Time Touring Machine

1990 Schwinn Crisscross. (Custom made bucket with lid. Maybe plenty of laughs, but certainly plenty of function.)

Throwback Touring Time Machine can really fly - just like the Wright Brothers' first machine. In the end, if the airplane didn't work, you're looking at its replacement.

2011 Scott SUB 10.
