Is that Orbea not a road bike? Sure looks like one.

Looks like the one in his signature.

How do you get under 20 lbs. without using any carbon fiber?

I thought it was much ligh:)ter, is it all Carbon ? The weight on the Bad Boy is great, I'm trying to pick up one of those used. Hard to find though.
Good luck on your search for a Badboy. If you can try to get a pre Dorel model :thumb: |

No it's triangle is alloy just the forks ang stays are carbon. The alloy is actually produced by Orbea in the Basque region of Spain. Sadly recently all their production now has been shifted from Spain to China. None of their bikes are manucacture or even assembled in Spain any more.

Thanks for the info, was looking at one I found on Craigslist (OBREA) not sure of the year model. It was super light, Full Carbon, Mavic wheel set, etc.. but let it go. Someone bought it right behind me though, and yes I'm looking for and older model Bad Boy. Thanks :)

I have Carbon Bars on my BadBoy. Should have got a lightweight Easton or similar. My dream bar would be a Ti Thomson. |

Not at all. My 29er FS MTB is full carbon and so is the TdF-legal road race bike. The lightweight Hybrid project was simply an exercise, proving a durable street-worthy bike can be built - using quality alloy components.

Finally got the new grips installed, along with a new seat, bottle cage, and computer. Have to order a longer cable so I can mount it on my bars and run it to the rear tire. I want to be able to keep track when I ride inside on my trainer.

I don't even know if this would be considered a Hybrid but this is my GT Outpost that I converted into a more commuter friendly bike. Still waiting on new grips and PDW headlight but it's getting there. Bike was given to me for free so I'm not too far into it after tune up and add on costs. TRIPLE TRIANGLE!!!

Just picked up a Cannondale Quick SL1 over the weekend - so far it's been great. So much lighter than my old Trek 7500. Wife picked up a CX1.

My BikeCad rendering of a bike based on a 55cm Handsome Devil frame, which I ordered about an hour ago, and the components I already have or plan to buy. This will be replacing the 1995 Trek 730 that I've been retro-fitting for the past 1.5 years. It came down to geometry and my choices were to have a custom fork built for the Trek and then getting the frameset powdercoated or just buying a new frameset. The cost would be the same and I've been riding a Trek 730 since 1995 so new-bike-itis set in.
The Handsome Devil seems to be aimed at the same market as the Surly frames. It's got 73 degree parallel head/seat tubes, a 45mm rake fork, 43.6cm chainstays and 70mm of bottom-bracket drop. I expect this to result in a ride that is stable while still feeling quite responsive. In fact, the Devil is based on Bridgestone/Grant Petersen's legendary XO-1, which was designed as a fast and agile street bike. I can't wait to get it and get it all put together. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=304347 And here's Handsome's ad for the Devil: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=304348 |

I ordered the frame at about 5:00 pm Wednesday afternoon and recieved it Saturday morning so I've gotta give props for prompt shipment. The frame is much darker blue than I expected but I do like it. The frame seems nice but the only complaint I have is that the advertised 400mm steerer tube was actually 250mm. I've e-mailed the guys at Handsome to find out where the error lies. If I stick with handlebar I've been using, the steerer tube is more than sufficient but I'm really considering putting drops on it and it may or may not be long enough for that.
Here's an initial mock-up without a headset so the fork angle is a little off but overall, I think it's going to be a very nicely proportioned bicycle. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=304825 |
