How are you finding your aero bars for allowing you to get into a very aerodynamically efficient seating position?

I'm wondering with your set up, if anyone would need dropbars?

barrychung8 05-09-15 09:25 PM

I think the simplicity and clean lines of the frame are what make them so popular and easy to set up for whatever purpose is needed.

It's probably just the angle of the photo, but I've actually got it set up with a flat bar and bar ends. The stem is flipped and lowered one spacer. It definitely helps when I'm riding into the wind but with the stock stem I am stretched out forward quite a bit and can't hold it for an entire ride.

I've never owned a drop bar bike but from my limited experience I think I would be better able to ride in the drops due to the neutral hand position, road specific geometry and access to controls.

Just some generic aluminum bar ends I took off my old bike. They look like these Supercycle L-Bend Bike Bar Ends | Canadian Tire

My DS 8.3, the wife's Ariel disc.

After riding it and trying out a Roubaix I'm torn on if I should go through with the purchase or betray the hybrid and get the road (I don't think my LBS was happy I had them order/build this one up and then hesitated but this is a lot of money and I want to make sure whatever I buy lasts me years). Decisions... decisions...

It's sexy either way, makes it a very tough choice lol.

Honestly, get the roadie.

I bought the Sirrus, and I love it. But I only ride an hybrid because my right hand is far from normal, and I cannot use drops.

What an high-end Sirrus can do, a Diverge or a Roubaix disc can do better.

Got mine today - Specialized Sirrus Elite Carbon 2015. Moved from Giant Roam 2 -2013 to this bad boy and the difference is unreal. Managed to beat my best commute time by 10 minutes (so 30%). Really smooth ride: with Axiom front fender and Giant rear fender + Blackburn lights the bike weighs 22.6 lbs which is super light compared to the previous ride (it was a large frame though).

Regards and hi to all: my first post here :)

Here are a few pictures of my Giant Roam 1. Picked this up at Scottsdale Giant last October and got a great deal on it. They also discounted accessories and installed them while I waited. It is a very nice store to do business with in my opinion if you are ever in the area. Added items are a Cygolite Metro 360 headlight and Cygolite Hotshot tail light, a VDO speedometer, a bike tire repair kit and bag, a couple of other small bags for carrying a few items while riding, and the sometimes controversial kickstand. The bike has about 450 miles now on it, I recently retired and finally having some time to get back to biking. Here in Arizona we have many water canal bike paths along with your regular city street riding so this bike works well in all terrains. I have been riding a 6 mile course weekday mornings and averaging between 14 and 15 MPH. Still get passed by a few riders on road bikes but not as quickly as when I first started out. Overall I am very pleased with this bike. I have also enjoyed looking at the various other bikes on this thread and hearing about the experiences of others.

Just picked up this Bianchi Boardwalk last night for $50. Shimano Altus 21-speed. Lugged frame (Japanese I'm thinking - I have yet to find a lugged Taiwan frame. I've had two other lugged Japanese Bianchis and they were nice bikes) I'm guessing 1989-90? Anyone know for sure or have a Bianchi catalog from back then? I Have done nothing yet. The previous owner paid $20 at Goodwill, minus front wheel so he'd been riding it with a rusty steel 27" front wheel. That's the first thing that will go.

Schwinn network 3.0 700c. Having fun so far, despite not having been on a bike in quite awhile. My first hybrid.
