I love the bare aluminium finish and this bike looks the business.
I do the same to my frames too and they are so easy to maintain.
Scratch it and just re polish it...no touch ups needed.

It's now finished...

Posted the closing stages of the build a few weeks back and I've finally finished it and been out - she's ok

I seem to be going in the opposite direction from where I'd intended. New trekking bars. . .

Is this considered a hybrid? Beats me. This is my custom-built utility hauler bike, made from a 2006 Marin Pine Mountain steel MTB frame, set up to be upright-riding, with disc brakes and Mary Jane handlebars. I'm about to put 2.15" Big Apple tires and 65mm fenders on it this week, in preparation for a Bafang e-assist PAS system (hopefully) in the next couple of months. It's a tad large for me in terms of standover height, but it feels awesome riding it. And hey I couldn't argue about $60 for this pristine chro-mo frame with disc, rack and fender mounts.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who has one of these, though mine is still essentially stock. Love it.

I'd love to see a picture of you riding this !
Your back must be ruined or... you're 3 metres tall !!!

Of course I'm quite vertically challenged so I'm always astounded by the height people set their seats at.

The bike looks fantastic btw, really nice but the height of that perch is dizzying to me !!

Certainly looks like a "hybrid" to me. 👍
The hybrid definition on our forum here seems fairly ambiguous.😉
I like it, it looks cool and definitely serves a purpose.
Won't those big a$$ apple tyres you're talking about, be heavy though?
I saw a "fatboy" I'm my LBS a couple of weeks ago, looked like that thing was running motorcycle wheels. I can't imagine how heavy that must feel when you're cranking uphill offroad in the sand or mud.

Maybe he's Gandalf the Grey, and it's a Hobbit sized bike? 😊
