Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Snagged this about half an hour ago and it will be mine until I find it a new home... I have to avoid getting too attached to it because it's a Kuwahara and it's green.

It's a 1985 Kuwahara Siera Grande that would have been considered and marketted as a mountain bike in it's day but it's touring / road heritage is plain to see.
With a 28/38/48 drive it was really set up for the road and light trails and I'll be getting it come slicker and narrower tires later today.

I am going to throw caution to the wind and use the bike for some short errands today as it's in perfectly rideable shape.

WC - Sweet bike... I love lugs.
I know that the Shasta was a straight gauge frame in 1987 (a friend has one) but my '88 Shasta has an EX butted frame, has a hand built decal, and is far lighter than it's predecessors. I wonder if the later model Sierra also got an upgraded tubeset ?
I always like to be able to ad to my Kuwahara / Apollo lore.

My Sierra frame was built with Ishawata Quad-butted chromoly. The forks are Tange chromoly. The bike is fairly light (for it's day) and has really pleasant ride characteristics.

My black beauty. I've since raised the saddle too, if I remember correctly, I raised the saddle during this break.

WC - Your Sierra is built to the same specs as my 1987 Kuwahara Cascade... does it have a handbuilt sticker on it as well ?
I am quite sure the Cascade became or offered a sloping top tube model in 1989... I have seen one and it was even lugged with an Ishiwata frame.
