Ignorance pardoned. I bought the frame on ebay from from a reputable bike company and totally custom built it.

That is a ridiculously hot hybrid right there JBC. The Sammy Slicks really top it off too. I'd be bouncing back and forth between thos and Bontrager Race Lites on that thing in a heartbeat. Nicely done!

They are called "sammy slick"
I haven't seen them yet but they look like cross tyres with knobs on the sides and smooth in the middle.
Basicly a very "hybrid" tyre

From looking at the pic, there is no smooth part in the middle of the tire,i see treads,my eyes are playing tricks now.

I really dont want to start a debate in this part of the forum but the fact is there a cycocross race tire for very hard packed dirt and the tread in the middle are more like dimples that give them no real drag or noise on the road.
As for there smoothness I was comparing them to 28c vittoria's below sammy's are wider thats how there smoother.
I dont know why they feel faster maybe because each tire is 200grams lighter and they have a larger rolling diameter "maybe" they just feel faster to me.
Every body has there own idea of the perfect tire and I think I might have my perfect hybrid tire. Did I say I my tires

I had to do a bit of googling to get the instructions. I have to buy some zipties as those ones are too short. I had to zip two together to get one.

Purchased last night. It's more of a comfort oriented bike, but I'm not complaining!
It's fast, smooth, and comfortable- which is about all I can ask for from a bike.

Finally turned my 2005 Bad Boy Ultra into a "true" hybrid by eBuying an off-road wheelset... happy with the setup while trail riding... the Wellgo WAM-D10 pedals could be a little narrower (not shown), but they take a pounding with no problems... I've been hitting more than a few rocks/roots on some of the tighter trail switchbacks... took me a couple of nervous off-road rides to feel like I wasn't beating the hell out of my road bike by off-roading it... came to the realization that I AM beating the hell out of my "road" bike by off-roading it... & so far, it's taking it well =)

2005 Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra...
Shimano Ultegra 11-21 Rear Cassette
Shimano 7701 XTR/Dura-Ace Chain
Shimano SLX M660 44-32-22 Crank
Shimano SM-BB70 Bottom Bracket (included with crank)
LOOK Keo2MAX Carbon Pedals
Jagwire Ripcord Brake CIY Cable Set
Jagwire Ripcord Derailleur DIY Cable Set
Specialized Armadillo Elite 700x23 tires
Kool Stop disc brake pads
Ergon GC3-L handle bar grips
Zefal Black Bell
Sette quick-release seat post clamp
Zefal Spy Mirror
Cateye V3 Triple Wireless 2.4 GHz bike computer
Crankskins.com Solid Black Skins
2 black cages & bottles
LARGE expandable seat pack
Portland Design Works "Danger Zone" Taillight
Fenix AF02 tactical light mount
Yezl M6 CREE XM-L LED 5-mode tactical light
ASUCELL Protected 3000mAh 18650 batteries
Avid G2 Clean Sweep Disc Brake Rotors

It was a concern of mine how well the shifting pattern of the derailleur would work with two different wheel/cassette setups... especially since I use an 11-21 on my road set (love it!) & had NO intention of using anything close to this for my off-road setup... I can tell you that the set up below shifts flawlessly...

ROAD Setup:
Hubs: Cannondale Fire Disc (BBU stock USA wheel 2005)
Rims: Mavic CXP22 32-hole 700C (BBU stock USA wheel 2005)
Spokes: DT Champion (BBU stock USA wheel 2005)
Tires: Specialized Armadillo All Condition Elite 700x23 (no matter, but...)
Brake Rotors: Avid G2 Clean Sweep
Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 11-21 9-Speed
Pedals: LOOK Keo2 Max Carbon Black

OFF-ROAD Setup:
Hubs: SRAM MTH-406 Disc
Rims: Alex Rims DP20 26" 32-hole
Spokes: DT Swiss 2.0
Tires: Kenda Krusher 26x2.1 (Tube setup with SmartTube Slime Lites)
Brake Rotors: Avid stock 2005 BBU Rotors (not sure of model name)
Cassette: Shimano CS-HG50 11-32 9-Speed
Pedals: Wellgo WAM-D10 Magnesium Clipless/Platform Black (not shown)

Crank: 2011 Shimano SLX M660 44-32-22 9-Speed
Chain: Shimano 7701 XTR/Dura-Ace Chain 9-Speed

I setup & tuned this bike with road wheel setup because I use this setup MUCH more often... after mounting the off-road set, NO adjustments needed whatsoever... PERFECT, clean, smooth, shifts through all gears with any front chain ring... I've grown just a bit spoiled by the SILK shifting of the Ultegra, so a more expensive option may include an Ultegra off-road cassette as well, but I highly doubt I would notice the small noise difference while tumbling over rock & dirt trails...

I also didn't want to adjust the brakes when changing wheelsets, which worked out perfectly because I tuned the brakes to the much newer Avid G2 Clean Sweep Rotors... for road setup, I like IMMEDIATE response... using the older rotors on the off-road setup provides just enough brake lever play for off-roading with NO adjustment needed at wheel swap... There is DEFINITELY more room for a wider tire setup... the Kenda Krusher 26x2.1 tires with big knobs don't even come close to rubbing in the front or back...

It should also be noted: this off-road set-up can be had for *Cheap* with a little eBay searching... Hope this helps someone looking to use multiple wheelset types...

Much appreciated that you showed this. I often wonder what my bad boy would look like with 26" rims.
When you get a chance, could you please take a pic with the 26" side on.

First thanks for the picks of your Badboy, they are exactly the angles I wanted.

Secondly, good luck with the "bargin" specialized build. That thing is incredible. If you're ever over here in Kyoto, I'll take you to my local bike shop. Unfortunately I can't take photos in there (yet) but the bikeporn in there is dreamy.

As we all know Japanese enjoy taking photos, but strangely shy off taking photos inside business premises. I'll do the sneaky shots though when I'm down there next. d(^.^)

No doubt, your local bike shops there would have a similar range.

Glad it helped & thanks! i'll take you up on that if in your neck of the woods =)
I'll keep you posted if I start piecing together the Venge build... the first shipment of Venge's at the local shop are all spoken for... but I'm pretty sure these will be the "Specialized" Venge, NOT the "McLaren" Venge... So my search for a Chinese copy of the Venge frame (or something very similar) begins.....
