Last question, which parts are road? You have posted in the Hybrid area, but your bike looks a lot like it's an MTB.

It's been a while since I've posted pics of my Dew. I just recently added a couple things.

Thanks... I'm impressed with this bike, especially at the price. I need to get some better shots, though... that's a terrible picture!

Yeah my bike started life as a MTB but I'm making it more of a hybrid by changing the tires, fork, eventually adding fenders. The only thing is that the frame isn't exactly the same geometry as the typical road bike.

Very Nice! I remember searching for Asphalts last Fall and thinking you had the nicest one I came across.

Hyrbids don't have road geometry, they have a mix of the two. A road frame with flat bars is just a flat bar road bike.

My Giant Escape 1 came in yesterday, and I got to take it for a nice (rainy) ride around the neighborhood. Already threw on my lighting setup and water bottle, really enjoying it.

Sweet looking bike you have there. I really wish my bike would come in so I could get some riding in. I'm jealous.

Absolutely stunning.
Did you ever tell us this is what you were going to do? I don't remember seeing that and I would have remembered.
That is a nice photograph as well.

You mean about purchasing it? Yes, I created a thread asking for suggestions and one or two people recommended the Escape 1. It was in my price range, and it fit with what I had in mind. Plus, you mentioned how smooth the shifting was (which is butter-smooth I might add) and that helped my decision as well.

As a side note, can you see all the brake residue on the rims? That created a lot of squealing. I was thinking this might be normal wet weather break-in (?), but I may still upgrade the pads later on.

I guess we are pretty forgiving here anyway, because no-one really knows what a hybrid is. We'll call it a hybrid then.

No issue on the pads. You'll see that residue for the first 100 miles after they are adjusted. Sounds like toe-in. The leading edge of the pad has to hit the rim first when applied. It sounds like the back of the pad is hitting first. Get the Park Tools book then give the bike a once over. The breaks will work really fine on this bike too.
I ordered Kool Stop pads for this bike as well. Just for grins.

Here's my Kona Dew plus. It's actually a really versatile bike. I have a set of 700cx28 Rubino Pro's that I use when I want to ride it a little faster, but most times I have a set of 700cx35 Sammy Slick's so I can easy handle some light trail riding when I don't feel like riding my MTB.

I got rid of the stock components, replaced them with SRAM X7, ditched the small chainring and went with 48/36 gearing up front with an 11-28 cassette. I'll eventually have a nice set of wheels built, but I'm not in a big hurry for that. Before someone says anything.... I am tall... I'm 6'8".
