Ah flat tracking, just about every American road racer came from there.

I'm not riding today because of the howling hot wind straight from hell so here's some more skid kids.
The skid kids club is a South Australian icon. Here's some old pictures. The first is from the 1940's in the UK long before Mountain Biking or BMX was ever thought of.

Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail, 10 1/4 miles between Lisbon and Leetonia, Ohio. I parked in Lisbon and did the round trip. The 21 miles is the longest trip I've done on my new Fuji Absolute 1.4. I also rode this trail in July on my Giant Sedona ST.

That's a nice red on that Fuji. It really pops in the sunlight. I have the blue 2013 Absolute 2.1 you may have seen in some recent shots.

No pics from my ride today since it's much of the same terrain around the lake that I've posted before. Because we're finally done with the brutal heat, I did a bit over 30 miles this afternoon after taking care of my "Honey-do" list around the house. The only thing that was a new experience for me today was being the first person in line while waiting on a freight train to cross the road I was riding. That is freakin' intense when you're not sitting in a car!

Cheers!

Lisbon is my hometown! Small world. What did you think of the trail?

Cheers!
I have seen it, and the 2014 Absolute 2.1 is one that I almost bought from my LBS. The blowout price on the 2013 1.4 was too good of a deal to pass up. I wasn't wild about the red at first, but it's growing on me.

Nice little town. I love the trail, but I have to admit that this n00bs experience with trails is limited. But it's a pleasant environment, no cars, and a nice round-trip distance for this 51 y/o 300lb guy. I wish it were a bit closer to home, but the 40 minute drive is worth it. ...plus I can stop at Peace Valley Orchards on my way home.

Here's my latest trail ride on the Stavitch Trail between New Castle PA and Struthers OH. I rode from mile 0 near New Castle to the state line and back. About 14 miles total. If I'd have gone all the way to Struthers, the round trip would be about 21 miles. I took these images with my phone so they didn't come out very well.

Thanks JBC, and I agree. This is a great place to live and to raise a family--at least 8 months out of the year when it's not cold and snowing. The sad part is that I've lived here all my life and I'm only recently starting to discover all these outstanding trails that are available to me. I haven't yet scratched the surface. There are many more on my list.

Yup, there are so many trails around western PA. I'm a bit northern. I ride the Allegheny River, Sandy Creek, Butler-Freeport, and have ventured up into "the mountains" as it is known up above Cook's Forest to ride the Little Toby Creek trail. I've made it down to Pittsburgh to ride all the shores of the 3 rivers which was quite a thing for this country boy. I see a lot more down towards Pittsburgh that I want to ride and still even more up my way that I haven't gotten too yet.

Having a lovely vacation in Saratoga Springs, NY right now. Visited Saratoga Spa State Park today:

Roosevelt Baths! Parked the bikes and went for a walk on some of the trails too, but mostly rode around and enjoyed the scenery.

It's been a while since I've thrown a pic on this thread, but to be honest, life has started interfering with my riding a bit. I did get out on the Fuji this morning about an hour before sunrise. Despite my lighting and strobes, it was really dark with no moon and a crystal clear sky. I did get one shot of a little cove on the local lake near my house where I ride just as the light was starting to come up at dawn before sunrise. This was about 8 miles into my ride. It had been 3 weeks since I had been on the bike, so I only did about 17 miles this morning.

This ride reminded me that I need to get my butt back on the bike more often.

I just got home from riding a 13 mile stretch of the Great Allegheny Passage between the 2000 foot Salisbury Viaduct near Meyersdale, PA and the 3400 foot Big Savage Tunnel. When we turned around a few hundred feet after the tunnel, we were less than a mile from the Pennsylvania/Maryland state line--and the Maxon-Dixon line. I knew we were close, but I didn't know we were THAT close or we'd have rode the extra mile. At 26 miles, this qualified at my longest ride ever.

I took some nice photos--at least I expect that they would have been nice. I just opened the camera to grab the memory card and... no memory card. Some cameras really yell at you when there no memory card in the camera. Not mine.

Yesterday, I rode 25 miles round trip on the Armstrong Trail along the Allegheny River, from Kittanning, PA to some point past Greys Eddy. It was 47 and cloudy when I started and a sunny 60 degrees when I returned to my car. I ended up stripping layers as I when along. Once I got outside of Kittanning, I only saw 3 other people over twenty miles - I saw more deer than people, actually. At a few points, I could hear no sounds of human origin at all. I really liked that. The leave are past their peak, by my estimation, but still a nice day to be out.

It was my first ride on the Armstrong. The trail seems a little narrower than the GAP, but pretty well maintained. I think I might start at the Brady's Bend end the next time I ride it.

Monticello Furnace

Power Station (I could hear the electrical "hum" across the river)

Bend in the Allegheny River

Trail was in great shape!

Haven't been on a bike for I think a few months from illness. Basically stopped a long term pain med cold turkey had withdrawals immune system collapsed and had a few illnesses.

So went for a easy ride today, got a puncture (because I did a last minute bike change couldn't find the spare tube for that bike so didn't take one) walked about 10km's in MTB shoes. Am I being punished for something ? But at least I still got some exercise

Some pic's, RC power boat racing in the city.

These are while walking back.

Rode city to the hills for the Auto Italia show then back to the city to try find a oval cycling race track I had heard about but didn't find it. I wanted to do some laps but I'll do it another time.

Small church from the 1800's long out of use, the priest and nuns are buried under the floor.

Being sent to the old Adelaide Goal would have been a death sentence when it was used. They do night tours in small groups I'll have to do some time. It's said to be haunted

I was considering displaying my Sprint but a catastrophic front brake caliper leak a week before made an easy decision not to.
4 of around 50 shots I took.
