I started exploring the bike path from downtown Reno west toward Verdi. It follows the Truckee River. All the way out (west) was into the wind, but all the way back was WITH the wind. Woohoo!

Nice pics DG and a good frame colour on your Sirrus. What sort of temperature is it there?

Not biking today, but did to work during the week. Took a few more Spring pictures capturing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,more daffodils, and I'm not Welsh

Work in the centre, on the horizon. Believe it or not it's another 7 miles from this point due to the river and only one bridge - as the crow flies, about 2 miles!

We had this 'ord lass doing her stuff from here last year. 4 Merlins take some beating.

It was getting nice and warm a couple of weeks ago, and then temps plummeted and we even got a little snow. This weekend, however, it's pretty warm - in the 60s, and I'm crossing my fingers that the cold temps are behind us.

It's been WAY too long since I've visited the forum. Life happens. My mother was diagnosed with a very large, aggressive brain tumor that claimed her life 30 days later. Days since have been spent helping my father (married to Mom for 52 years) get things sorted out. Now that things have started settling down, it was time to get my overweight 48 year old butt back on the Fuji's saddle.

Rather than riding one of my normal routes, I mixed it up a bit and rode a greenbelt between two large reservoirs here in North Texas that is maintained by the State of Texas as a State Park. It is a crushed limestone path that passes through dense forest and open pastures. It was a very nice, mind clearing 22 mile ride. I was glad for the vibration dampening of the steel fork, but could have used another -10psi out of the 700x32 tires.

Here's a few pics...

Thanks guys. I caught myself smiling quite often during the ride and remembering how she taught me how to ride a bike. Pleasant memories.

I did my first ride of the season today (4-12-15) at the Saginaw Valley Rail trail in Michigan. It was so good to get out again since last OCtober.

Got in a nice ride in the Damonte Ranch area of Reno, discovering this nearly empty MUP on a beautiful, 72 sunny Sunday afternoon. This is just a couple of miles from my house, so I'll be riding here often. No traffic, lots of birds, and the pavement is nearly new.

Very good picture, looks and sounds like a good place to ride. Those tracks on the hill in the distance look tempting to explore, though not for the sirrus.

What I really love about this thread is that even though everyone lives in completely different parts of the world, the places we're riding our hybrids look so alike and yet so different

Agreed. The best part is that nobody takes pictures of ugly or boring locations!!!

Went for a little trip today since the weather is absolutely brilliant today. Ended up with my frist crash with the new bike. I don't really know what happened I've made that turn about 20 times already... I might have been going a little faster than usual, but still not overly fast to corner it. Anyway I ended up in the side of the road and since I was clipped in I just fell into the ditch.

Wiped the dirt off of me and hopped back on the bike, but I noticed it was making a noise it didn't make before. So I turned around and went back home. Thankfully I still have a tune up with the LBS, so I will ask them to have a look at it. Could have been worse though, no marks on the bike or anything.

The Sirrus was 'full steam ahead' into a head wind for a recce of 'Tour De Yorkshire' Stage 1. Stage 2 is easy, a return train ticket to York to see the finish. Stage 3, on tele!

A nice NE'ly head wind but the views were great, it was dry and sunny-ish, hills ahead & a 32/11 cassette on the back to get the Sirrus up anything.

Captain Cook's Monument, could have done with some of his navigating skills today.

Pack horse bridge, built way before bikes or cars were thought about - the water splash/ford was put in to solve the problem.

Will watch the Stage 1 event from here at Ralph’s Cross, near Castleton. Loads of stories about this old landmark.

I'm getting older, that head wind for 3 hours wasn't a party, great on the way back, 3 hrs out - 2hrs back, 74 miles bagged on the 28mm Continental Grand Prix 4000s II's. Do like them, not as quick into a turn as 25mm's but no drawback anywhere else, more ++++ than ---ve.

Roll on the 1st May

My bikes always in the way - but without it life would a hell of a lot more boring and I'd be a lot fatter.
